Bytewize Vacancy 2026-2768 for Specialist Technicians
BytewizeKeeping schools online and humming
Bytewize is looking for seasoned IT professionals to join its team in Victoria, focused on delivering technical support to schools through the Department of Education’s Technical Support to Schools Program (TSSP). The role is based onsite in Donvale and is framed as a part-time opportunity, with Bytewize able to offer flexible arrangements including contract, casual, or permanent paths. Bytewize has been operating since 2001 and is a long-standing panel member of the TSSP, known for reliable ICT support across Victorian schools and private enterprise.
The job is not for newcomers. It seeks candidates with substantial senior-level experience who can manage complex ICT environments, support both staff and students, and work with school leaders to shape ICT planning and development. If you enjoy working in education technology and want to make a real difference by keeping learning environments well-supported and up to date, this could be a strong fit.
What you’ll actually do day to day
You’ll be responsible for maintaining and evolving ICT infrastructure across Department of Education schools, ensuring networks and servers run smoothly and securely. In practice, this means hands-on administration of school networks, support for large, technology-driven classrooms, and collaboration with school leadership to deliver ICT professional development when needed. You’ll blend hands-on technical work with advisory and coaching duties, helping staff and students use technology effectively while keeping systems well documented and auditable.

Advice for applicants
Tailor your resume to foreground the exact mix of experience this role demands. Highlight at least five years in IT, and call out any TSSP or education-sector work, or equivalent senior-level corporate IT support examples.
When you describe your must-have skills, back each item with a concrete project or outcome. For example, note how you used Hyper-V to run multi-VM environments, or details of Windows and Linux server administration you managed at scale, or specific cloud configurations you implemented in Google Workspace or Microsoft 365.
Get ready to talk through real-world deployments of 1:1 or BYOD programs, how you supported large fleets of devices, and the kind of documentation you produced to keep teams aligned and compliant. Have short stories ready that show collaboration with school leadership and your ability to deliver ICT training sessions when needed.
Prepare a thoughtful question to close the interview, such as how Bytewize measures success of ICT training and support within the DoE environment, or what ICT projects are planned for the next 12 months to strengthen learning outcomes.
