Part-time
On-site
Clyde North, AU
$80,000 - $110,000 AUD yearly

Bytewize is looking for seasoned IT professionals to join its team delivering the Department of Education’s Technical Support to Schools Program (TSSP). The role is onsite in Clyde North, Australia, and offered on a part-time basis with flexible paths to contract, casual, or permanent employment. The pay sits in the $80,000 to $110,000 range on a pro-rata basis. Bytewize has been operating since 2001 and has built a solid reputation as a reliable ICT partner for Victorian schools and private sector clients, including a long-standing role as a TSSP panel member.

This opportunity is suited to someone who enjoys applying advanced technical skills in education settings and who can support both staff and students while keeping enterprise systems up and running. You’ll be joining a team that works with schools under the TSSP umbrella, delivering practical ICT support and facilitating staff development when needed.

Making the ICTs hum in classrooms

You’ll be responsible for keeping ICT infrastructure healthy across Department of Education schools, which means hands-on oversight of school networks and server environments, plus day-to-day support for a broad user base. In practice, you’ll work to ensure staff and students can rely on reliable technology, while partnering with school leaders to plan and implement ICT improvements and deliver professional development when required.

You’ll also collaborate with others to administer complex enterprise environments, troubleshoot issues, and manage deployments that affect large numbers of desktop and notebook devices. The role calls for careful coordination with leadership teams to align ICT activities with school goals and to support a technology-driven learning environment.

Skillset you must have

These are not entry-level positions, and candidates should bring at least five years of industry experience, including one of the following pathways or equivalent senior IT roles.

  • Hands-on Hyper-V administration to support virtualised environments
  • Experience managing Windows and Linux server estates
  • Administration of cloud services such as Google Workspace and Microsoft 365
  • Deployment and management of Mobile Device Management across devices
  • Advanced networking with Cisco and HP switches
  • Experience with Cisco wireless controllers and access points
  • SOE and image deployment coupled with strong troubleshooting abilities
  • Experience supporting large fleets of desktops and notebooks
  • 1:1 and BYOD planning, deployment, and ongoing management
  • Solid technical documentation skills

Highly regarded if you have prior TSSP experience, a track record of ICT success in education settings, or the ability to plan and deliver ICT training sessions for staff.

Pay, perks and practical details

The role offers a salary range of $80,000 to $110,000 (pro-rata), with top rates guaranteed based on your skills and experience. Bytewize supports flexible employment options, including contract, casual, or permanent arrangements, and both part-time and full-time possibilities. You may also have access to salary packaging options, company vehicle opportunities depending on the role, and ongoing training and professional development to keep your skills current.

Duties are onsite in Clyde North, and the position includes essential criteria such as eligibility to work in Australia (citizen, PR, or permanent visa), a current driver’s licence and reliable motor vehicle, and a willingness to undergo police and background checks. The company will conduct background checks as part of the process.

Advice for applicants

Lead your resume with a strong summary of your five-plus years of IT experience, and spotlight any TSSP or education-sector work you’ve done so the recruiter sees the fit right away.

Back up the must-have skills with concrete proof: indicate the size of environments you’ve supported, the exact servers and cloud services you’ve managed, and any large-scale desktop or BYOD deployments you led. If you can attach a brief project rundown showing outcomes, that strengthens your case.

Be ready for the interview by having a ready-made example of a staff training session you delivered or helped design, including what you taught, how you measured impact, and what staff gained from it.

Ask a sharp, practical question about the role’s first few months, such as how Bytewize measures success in TSSP support or what ICT training opportunities are available to staff within the program.
