You’ll back cider production and filtration activities, helping materials move through the process and ensuring the output meets quality expectations. You’ll also handle incoming raw materials and juice deliveries, making sure they’re received properly and stored correctly so production isn’t interrupted.

Maintaining strong hygiene and 5S order is a daily priority, keeping workspaces clean, organized and efficient. You’ll contribute to a safe, productive team culture and look for small improvements that add up over time to smoother operations and fewer disruptions.

Working closely with teammates in operations, quality, and logistics, you’ll rely on clear, timely communication to keep shifts aligned and any issues addressed quickly.

What the role expects from you

Here’s what the job requires, and what would help you stand out in the application.

  • Hands-on experience in settings such as manufacturing, production, winery, brewery, food, or other beverage environments
  • A sharp eye for detail with a demonstrated commitment to delivering quality
  • Ability to work well in a team and communicate clearly with colleagues
  • Forklift licence is preferred
  • Qualifications in science, food technology, or winemaking are advantageous

What you’ll get in return

The role is permanent and full-time, based onsite in Nelson at Redwood Cidery within the HEINEKEN family. Alongside a supportive team, the package includes benefits such as free health, life and income protection insurance, a 5% employer KiwiSaver contribution, a monthly product allowance, and employee discounts across Star Hospitality venues. You’ll also enjoy Enjoyment of Life Leave, an extra paid day off each year, generous parental leave, and wellbeing support and counselling services.

Tips to help your application stand out

Lead with the most relevant experience on your resume, placing hands-on work in manufacturing, production, winery, brewery, food, or beverage settings up front. If you hold a forklift licence, mention it in the certifications section so the recruiter sees it quickly.

Back up your claims about attention to detail and quality with concrete examples from past roles, especially any work on hygiene, sanitation, or 5S practices. Describe how you’ve contributed to a safe, efficient team environment and how you’ve communicated to keep processes running smoothly.

Get ready to talk about how you’d approach continuous improvement on the floor, including simple changes that reduce bottlenecks or waste and improve safety or consistency in cider production.

When you ask questions, target specifics like how 5S is applied day-to-day at Redwood Cidery, or what kinds of growth opportunities exist within the HEINEKEN family for someone in a Cellarhand role.
