On-site
Tamworth, ENG
£43,000 - £43,000 GBP yearly

DHL Supply Chain, part of Deutsche Post DHL, is looking for a Class 1 HGV Driver to join its Tamworth operation on a permanent, full-time basis. The role is onsite at Tamworth B78 with a Tuesday–Saturday pattern and start times that sit between midnight and 03.00. This is a solid fit for someone who wants regular night shifts within a large, well‑structured logistics network.

DHL is a global logistics leader with around 188,000 people in more than 50 countries. The team keeps operations moving by delivering goods safely and on time for customers across various industries, and this role places you at the heart of that effort. If you value safety, reliability and steady, scheduled work, this could be a great move.

In this role, you’ll be a key part of the operation, helping ensure deliveries are made safely and on time, enabling the wider network to function smoothly.

A typical day on the road

A typical shift centers on driving safely and efficiently, staying within Drivers’ Hours and Working Time Directive rules, and following The Highway Code. The focus is on reliability and compliance as you move goods through the network.

You’ll perform regular vehicle checks to keep the fleet in good shape and handle RDC deliveries, usually 1–2 stops per day, coordinating with the broader DHL operation to keep pallets moving where they’re needed.

What you need to drive this route

Here’s what would qualify you for the role, and what would help you stand out in the application process.

  • A valid HGV Class 1 licence (C+E) with Driver CPC qualification
  • Digital Tachograph Card
  • Ideally 6–12 months of recent driving experience

What this role pays and what you get

The role pays £43,000.00 per year, plus any shift premium and overtime. The contract is permanent and full-time, and the position is based onsite in Tamworth B78. The shift pattern runs Tuesday through Saturday with start times from midnight to 03.00. The role sits under a Collective Agreement.

There are several benefits as part of the package, including free parking and an on-site canteen, 33 days of annual leave, a pension scheme with an 8% employer contribution and 4% employee contribution, and access to free confidential 24/7 GP consultations. Additional perks include hundreds of retail and lifestyle discounts, affordable loans and savings schemes, and free mortgage advice. Getting ready to drive for DHL

Lead with your must‑have items on the top of your resume: your HGV Class 1 licence (C+E) and Driver CPC, plus your Digital Tachograph Card, so recruiters see them first.

To prove you meet the must‑have skills, describe any recent driving experience, ideally 6–12 months, and note any RDC deliveries 1–2 per day. If you can, quantify aspects like miles driven or on-time delivery rates to give tangible proof.

Be prepared for interview questions about how you manage Drivers’ Hours, Working Time Directive requirements, and Highway Code compliance, and share concrete examples of how you perform routine vehicle checks to prevent faults and delays.

Ask about how shift premiums are determined and what support exists for new drivers within the Tamworth operation, especially under the collective agreement, so you understand the structure and expectations from day one.

How to apply

Interviews are provisionally scheduled for the week commencing 12 October 2026. Applications received after this date may still be considered and placed in a talent pool for future opportunities, subject to your consent. Applications are reviewed continuously, and the period may close early if a large number of applications are received. To ensure your application is considered, submit it as early as possible.
