Clarkson College, a private institution in Omaha, Nebraska, is looking for a Community Engagement Administrator to lead outreach that supports the college’s mission and strategic plan. This full-time, onsite role sits in the Office of Community and Cultural Engagement, reporting directly to the Director of that office. It’s a role for someone who enjoys shaping partnerships and coordinating community activity in a higher-education setting, and who wants to help students, faculty and staff connect with meaningful service opportunities.

The successful candidate will shape a campus-wide strategy to foster long-term partnerships, coordinate service and volunteer opportunities, and boost engagement across the Clarkson community. With more than 200+ employees, 1,200+ students, and 8,000 alumni, the administrator will oversee programming and community engagement in collaboration with multiple external partners to raise the college’s visibility and strengthen its ties with the wider community.

In this position you’ll help the college make its outreach consistent with its values and goals, while creating opportunities for collaboration with local organizations. If you thrive in environments that prize service, clear communication, and teamwork, you’ll likely find this role rewarding.

Making Clarkson’s outreach work come to life

You’ll develop and implement a cohesive, college-wide approach to building community partnerships that align with Clarkson’s mission. The role includes planning and coordinating service, volunteer initiatives, and service-learning experiences, ensuring programs connect with students’ learning and the college’s commitments. You’ll manage a portfolio of programming that engages internal stakeholders and external partners, with the scale of engagement touching hundreds of staff, students, and alumni, as well as diverse external groups. The work requires thoughtful collaboration, event planning, and effective communication to keep initiatives on track and aligned with institutional values.

Daily duties center on turning strategy into action: designing partnerships, guiding volunteer activities, and supporting opportunities for students to participate in community efforts. You’ll balance shifting priorities, maintain attention to detail, and help teams collaborate across departments to deliver programs that reflect Clarkson’s standards and mission. The role is about turning good ideas into well-run, impactful programs that contribute to the college’s reputation in the Omaha region.

Tips to stand out in your application

Lead with your degree and relevant community engagement experience so the first thing recruiters see confirms you meet the must-haves. A concise opening summary on your resume that ties your education to outreach experience helps you pass initial screens.

Back up your must-have skills with concrete examples, especially around handling confidential information and coordinating partnerships. Share a story that demonstrates your judgment, discretion, and ability to work across stakeholder groups, including faculty, staff, and external partners.

Prepare to discuss how you manage multiple priorities and adapt when priorities shift. Have a few short scenarios ready that show you can stay organized, meet deadlines, and still collaborate effectively with others.

Ask a targeted question about current Clarkson College partnerships and how success in community engagement is measured. For extra impact, show your interest in working with diverse groups and in expanding opportunities for students to participate in service-oriented programs.
