A day in the Nijmegen Control Tower

CEVA Logistics is looking for a Customer Service Representative to join the Nijmegen Control Tower, supporting CEVA Benelux operations. The position is based in Nijmegen, Netherlands, and sits within a team that includes four direct colleagues and about forty indirect colleagues. The role centers on keeping client shipments on track and ensuring customer needs are met, with the goal of delivering reliable service and helping staff develop in their roles.

You’ll be the first point of contact for clients, maintaining daily communication and sharing operational information with both the client and internal teammates. The work revolves around coordinating transport flows, ensuring information is accurate and up to date, and contributing to a service mindset that keeps shipments moving smoothly and customers satisfied.

In this setup, the team aims to deliver timely shipments and high customer satisfaction in a professional yet collegial atmosphere, with reporting lines to the Contract Supervisor and working hours typically between 08:00 and 18:00.

Around the day-to-day duties in the Control Tower

Your responsibilities center on handling inquiries and feedback, planning orders, and entering the necessary details into the transport system while verifying related documents. You ensure orders are scheduled and the customer is kept informed about the latest status, and you’re quick to spot issues with collections or deliveries, following up with the carrier as needed. You also provide ad-hoc information to the customer and keep a close eye on KPIs, inquiries, complaints, client data, and agreements in the information system, while creating and organizing client files that reflect the terms already agreed upon.

What we need from you

  • Must-have: a completed MBO education, preferably in Transport or Logistics
  • Must-have: at least two years of experience in a similar commercial role, ideally within logistics services
  • Must-have: familiarity with transport processes and automated information systems
  • Must-have: excellent Dutch and English skills, both spoken and written
  • Must-have: solid proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Nice-to-have: a track record building solid client relationships and elevating team performance
  • Nice-to-have: flexibility and the ability to stay steady under pressure
  • Nice-to-have: a proactive approach and a genuine drive to help customers and colleagues

Pay, benefits and practical details

The package includes a gross monthly salary ranging from € 2.868 to € 3.822 plus 8% holiday pay, with a one-year contract that has the prospect of permanent employment. You’ll receive 25 vacation days and 5 ADV days, with the option to sell or buy extra leave. The role offers profit sharing of up to 3% based on positive company results, plus a travel allowance for home-work distances starting at 10.0 km. A good pension scheme is included, and there are possibilities to work from home (negotiable with your manager). You can also participate in CEVAfit and gain development opportunities through the CEVA Academy, encouraging growth across tools and training.

All of this sits alongside a stable path within CEVA Logistics where your daily tasks contribute to delivering client satisfaction and continuing to develop your professional skills.

Tips for making your application stand out

Lead with your logistics and customer service experience, especially any roles where you planned orders, handled documentation, or coordinated with carriers, as these mirror the core duties described here.

Show, with concrete examples, how you’ve managed transport information systems and how you’ve kept clients informed about order status and issues. If you have 2+ years in a similar commercial role, mention the exact sectors or clients you supported and any outcomes you influenced.

Be ready in interviews to explain how you handle inquiries, resolve delivery problems, and maintain composure under pressure, tying your answers back to the KPIs and data you’ve tracked in past roles.

When you ask questions, target practical details such as how success in this role is measured, how the Control Tower collaborates with the Benelux team, and which tools you’ll be using day to day.
