About The Role:


We are currently looking for a mental health clinician to provide counseling services through the Telus Health Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Our EAP service provides short-term counselling to a diverse set of clients dealing with various personal issues that may or may not be work-related. Services are delivered face-to-face, and online via telephone and video sessions.

What We Are Looking For:

• Qualifications in Counselling or Psychology

• Professional registration with the relevant health professional body (Counsellors: NZAC or NZCCA, Psychologist: NZPB, Social worker: (SWRB)

• 3-5 years of relevant experience in counselling

• Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality, evidence-based talking therapies, such as CBT, DBT, Schema Therapy, ACT, or equivalent modalities, with measurable client outcomes 

• Ability to clinically manage client risk, and work within a short-term counselling framework 

• Experience in EAP or counselling service delivery 

• Confidence with computer systems is an asset

Core Responsibilities:

• Providing confidential counselling services to employees facing personal or work-related challenges.

• Conducting assessments to understand clients' needs and develop appropriate treatment plans.

• Offering short-term counselling or crisis intervention to address immediate issues.

• Referring clients to external resources or specialists for long-term support if needed.

• Collaborating with other professionals to support employees' well-being.

• Maintaining accurate records of counselling sessions while ensuring client confidentiality.

• Staying updated on relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in counselling and mental health support.

• Providing consultation to managers and supervisors on handling employee-related issues sensitively and effectively.

• Practicing self-care and seeking supervision or support when dealing with challenging cases
   

Essential Skills & Attributes:

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex psychological concepts accessibly to clients and colleagues

• Collaborative, team-oriented approach to intervention and service delivery

• Strong time-management and organisational skills, with the ability to work autonomously, prioritise effectively, and manage a clinical caseload

• Emotional resilience and capacity for reflective practice in a fast-paced, client-centred environment

• Commitment to clinical best practice and an evidence-based approach to treatment
