About the role

 

We are hiring for an Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Maintenance Technician to support our Nitrates Plant at Kooragang Island, a critical 24/7 manufacturing facility supplying customers across Australia.

 

In this hands-on role, you'll help maintain the reliability, safety, and performance of plant equipment by delivering electrical and instrumentation maintenance activities. Working with a skilled maintenance team, you'll support planned maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and help maximize plant availability and efficiency.

 

Once fully trained, you'll participate in an on-call roster providing breakdown support to keep our operations running safely and reliably.

What you will be doing

 

  • Ensuring plant, equipment repairs, modifications and monitoring occur within health and safety guidelines;
  • Investigating, analysing and determining root causes of Electrical & Instrumentation plant failures;
  • Coordinating and communicating with Planners, Mechanical Technicians, Electrical Engineers and Operations to complete and resolve both planned and unplanned maintenance activities;
  • Participating in pre-shut-down work scoping and shut-down facilitation execution;
  • Providing direction and control of breakdown work to ensure maximum output;
  • Conducting maintenance tasks within a rigid planning and clearance to work system;
  • Ensuring maintenance budget expenditure is targeted to the right plant and equipment to obtain maximum value; and
  • Planning maintenance tasks using the SAP system.

What you will bring

 

  • Dual trade qualification in Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I);
  • Experience in heavy industry or continuous manufacturing environments;
  • Knowledge of DCS, PLC, SIS, motor control, instrumentation, and control systems;
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify and resolve root causes;
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work closely with operations and engineering teams;
  • Experience with SAP or similar maintenance management systems, with a commitment to continuous learning and development.
