Field Application Engineer
MammotionMammotion is looking for a Field Application Engineer intern to join its Melbourne team. The role is onsite in Melbourne and centers on supporting local distributors, authorised service providers, dealers and DIY channels with technical guidance and troubleshooting. This is a hands-on position that suits someone who enjoys solving problems in a real-world setting and collaborating with a global team.
The internship is a good fit for someone with a strong engineering or related background who wants to apply theory to field problems, help partners install and service products, and learn how after-sales processes come together with product development. If you’re comfortable working with both technical and non-technical colleagues and you’re open to travel, this could be a great match.
If you thrive when you’re actively helping customers and partners, coordinating across teams, and contributing to continuous improvement, you’ll likely feel at home in this role.
Hands-on fieldwork in Melbourne
You’ll provide technical support, troubleshooting and product consultation to local distributors, authorised service providers, dealers and DIY channels, ensuring partners have the guidance they need to install, diagnose and resolve issues. You’ll also help with training and tackle complex problems, sharing your findings with the team back at headquarters to shape how products are used in the local market.
Part of the day-to-day is promoting and enforcing Mammotion’s technical and after-sales processes, as well as meeting KPI requirements across the local network of distributors and service providers. You’ll keep an eye on partner service performance, identify gaps in KPI attainment and work toward continuous improvement, collaborating closely with HQ’s R&D, Product, Quality and After-Sales divisions to resolve technical and product issues. When required, you’ll provide on-site technical support, hands-on training and field troubleshooting, and you should expect domestic travel and occasional international trips as part of the role.
The essentials you’ll bring
- A bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, electronics, mechatronics, computer science, robotics, or a related field
- Experience in a field application engineering role or in technical support, after-sales, robotics, IoT, or consumer electronics is a plus
- Clear, analytical thinking with the ability to judge situations and solve problems independently
- Strong communication and presentation skills, able to work well with both technical and non-technical colleagues
- A proactive mindset and a sense of ownership, comfortable working solo or as part of a team
- Fluent English is required; additional languages such as Chinese/Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, Thai or others are a plus
- Willingness to travel as needed
Nice-to-haves to help you stand out
- Experience in field application engineering, technical support, after-sales, robotics, IoT or consumer electronics
- Additional language skills beyond English
Practical details you should know

You’ll be collaborating with a network of distributors, service providers, dealers and DIY channels, and you’ll work with headquarters teams across R&D, Product, Quality and After-Sales to address technical issues and feedback on local market requirements. English fluency is a must, with other languages seen as a bonus.
Guidance for applicants
Lead your resume with your degree and field of study that align with engineering, electronics, mechatronics, computer science or robotics, so the essential qualification is immediately clear.
Show concrete examples that demonstrate independent thinking, sound judgment, problem analysis and ownership, preferably from projects or field-based experiences where you diagnosed and resolved real issues or led installations and training.
Be ready to discuss how you’ve worked with both technical and non-technical teams, and how you’ve collaborated with cross-functional groups, such as R&D, Product, Quality and After-Sales.
Ask a targeted question about the role’s KPI expectations and how field support teams partner with local distributors and service providers to drive performance and continuous improvement. For example, inquire how KPI gaps are tracked in practice and what successful field interventions look like in Melbourne.
