Job Summary
The Formsetter is responsible for the construction of concrete sidewalks, curbs, gutters, and other concrete structures.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and lay out forms as required according to specifications with the ability to make calculations depending on grades.
- Fill form with fill material and compact with tamper or compactor to bring to required grade.
- Clean work site of any tools, debris, and equipment.
- Ensure all work is conducted in a safe and responsible manner.
- Work with a variety of hand tools (sledge and carpenter hammers), power tools (hand saws), and equipment (jack hammers).
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications
Education, Training and Certifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Valid driver’s license (Class 5).
- Own transportation.
- WHMIS and first aid an asset.
Work Experience
- Experience as a formsetter.
- Experience with road building.
Technical Skills
- Ability to work with a variety of tools.
- Knowledge of curbs, gutters, and sidewalks.
- Ability to read construction plans.
- Basic carpentry skills.

Working Conditions
- Overtime as required.
- Must be physically fit as heavy lifting will be involved.
- Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust, grease, fumes, odors, oil, asphalt, and toxic and flammable substances.
- Required to perform tasks that involve heavy lifting, bending, crouching, and kneeling.
- Use of sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear is recommended.
- Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.
- Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol policy, including testing requirements.
- Must comply with all company policies.
