Job Description

As part of our in-house Design team, you'll be at the heart of the creative process. You will be transforming iconic brands, characters, artists and teams into exciting, commercially successful products!

Working closely with our Buying and Sourcing teams, you'll research trends, create standout graphics and help build cohesive product ranges that connect with customers. One day you might be designing for Disney, the next bringing Marvel superheroes, legendary music artists, or fan-favourite sports teams to life across apparel and general merchandise.

This is a role where creativity meets commercial thinking. Your designs won't just live on a screen, they'll land on shelves and in customers' homes across New Zealand so a customer mindset is a must!

What You'll Be Doing

  • Spotting and translating emerging trends into fresh, customer-focused designs
  • Researching market insights and applying trend analytics to product development
  • Forecasting key colours, graphics, fabrics, details and product opportunities
  • Creating compelling graphics that bring globally recognised brands and characters to life
  • Collaborating with Buying and Sourcing teams to curate exciting, cohesive ranges
  • Balancing creative vision with customer needs and commercial outcomes

Qualifications

You will be someone who enjoys a dynamic and varied role with a great eye, attention to detail to work to guidelines and licensed brand framework and passion for trends and graphic design! Cross-functional collaboration and time management is key - retail is dynamic and fast-paced and working to key critical paths will be key!

  • High level knowledge of pop culture trends with ideally license experience across product and approval processes with partners such as Disney, Warner Brothers, Sanrio, Lucas Films, Marvel, Sports.
  • Proven intermediate to senior level designer experience including taking product from concept through execution and partnering with overseas manufacturers
  • Customer-centric approach with proven ability to research and apply market/trend knowledge
  • Demonstrated creative ability including graphics and in the licensed space
  • Commercial sense working within a retail environment
  • Highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator & Photoshop
