You’ll need 3+ years in tax, a tertiary qualification in Accounting or Law, and CA/CPA or equivalent, with strong communication, prioritisation, commercial awareness and an interest in tax tech and automation. About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Group Tax Manager - Global and sitting in the Finance team, the Group Tax Advisor plays a key role in delivering the Group's tax compliance obligations and supporting the business to make informed decisions based on practical, commercial tax advice.

  • Act as a business partner providing tax advice and recommendations and supporting business strategies.
  • Support the global tax compliance process, including working with local teams and advisors in offshore locations.
  • Prepare direct and indirect New Zealand tax returns and disclosures.
  • Prepare and review tax calculations and tax note disclosures for the Group’s external financial reporting.
  • Support the transfer pricing position for the Group, including reviewing related-party transactions and preparing relevant transfer pricing documentation.
  • Support international tax reporting and compliance obligations, including Country-by-Country Reporting and Pillar Two requirements.

 

About You

You’re a proactive and curious professional who has a strong desire to build a career in tax and gain exposure to a broad range of technical and commercial tax matters. You bring strong communication skills, a collaborative approach and a continuous improvement mindset. Most importantly, you bring a willingness to learn, share knowledge and contribute positively to the success of the wider team.

  • 3+ years' experience in tax, gained in a professional services firm or in-house tax function.
  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting or Law.
  • CA, CPA or equivalent professional qualification (or working towards completion).
  • Experience preparing New Zealand corporate income tax and GST returns.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to apply technical tax knowledge in a practical business context.
  • Experience identifying and implementing process improvements.
  • Interest in using tax technology, automation tools and AI-enabled solutions to improve efficiency and streamline tax processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to deliver technical tax issues clearly to the business.

It’s great, but not required to have:

  • Exposure to tax effect accounting and financial reporting.
  • Exposure to international tax or transfer pricing.
  • Experience in a global organisation.
  • Involvement in tax audits or Inland Revenue risk reviews.
