Coilcraft, a Hawarden, IA–based maker of passive electronic components, has shaped this location for more than six decades and is known around the world for quality. The company supports a wide range of industries, from telecommunications and computers to automotive, broadband, and consumer electronics. They’re looking for a capable Incoming Quality Auditor to join the onsite team and help keep parts meeting exacting standards. If you like precise checks, clear communication, and working with a skilled group on the floor, this could be a good fit.

The job sits on site in Hawarden, sharing in a long-standing community presence while benefiting from the backing of a global electronics supplier. The right person will be comfortable working independently with solid basic computer skills, including Excel, and will enjoy a role that values accuracy and consistency in quality checks.

What you’ll do on the floor

On a typical day you’ll act as an internal reviewer, ensuring that incoming materials meet Coilcraft’s quality standards before they move into production. You’ll use a range of inspection and measurement tools, plugs, gauges, micrometers, calipers, optical measuring machines, electrical test equipment and various hand tools, to verify conformance and document findings. You’ll collaborate with teammates to resolve any deviations and help maintain smooth production flow. The rhythm is hands-on and methodical, with a focus on precise assessments and clear reporting.

You’ll spend a lot of time on the factory floor, standing for extended periods and handling 5 to 35 pounds as needed. It’s a team environment, so you’ll share information and support teammates to uphold quality across the line. The role requires you to read and speak English well, particularly to understand work order standards, and to apply those standards consistently as you inspect materials as they arrive.

- Capacity to stand for long periods and frequently handle 5–35 pounds

Pay, benefits and practical details

The role is full-time and onsite in Hawarden, with benefits that reflect Coilcraft’s status as a larger employer operating in a smaller community. You’d gain medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; paid holidays, vacation and sick time; tuition assistance; and a 401(k) plan with company match and profit sharing. Coilcraft identifies itself as an Equal Opportunity Employer: Disabled/Veterans. In addition, the posting notes a pre-employment physical and drug screen, plus a background check for final candidates. There’s also a potential ITAR requirement, so applicants should be aware that citizenship or permanent residence status may be necessary.

Advice for applicants

Lead with a concise opening on your resume that foregrounds your quality-auditing capabilities and your hands-on experience with inspection tools and work-order standards. Put the parts of your background that show you can audit incoming goods and verify conformance up front, and mention any experience using micrometers, calipers, optical measurement devices or other test gear.

To prove the must-have skills, share concrete examples of independent work and teamwork on a manufacturing floor, including how you used measurement tools to identify nonconformities and how you documented and communicated those findings. If you’ve done pre-shift checks or maintained records in Excel, describe the processes you followed and the outcomes you achieved.

In interviews, be ready to walk through a scenario where you identify a deviation from a work order standard and how you decide whether it’s acceptable or requires escalation. Explain how you organize your notes, how you confirm readings with standard references, and how you coordinate with the team to resolve issues promptly.

A smart question to ask is about the quality standards and tools most frequently used for incoming inspection, as well as how ITAR considerations are handled in daily workflow. You could also ask which measurement equipment sees the most usage on the line and how the team collaborates to maintain consistent quality across shifts.

How to apply

No specific application instructions are listed here beyond the standard onsite application process. If you’re drawn to a role that blends careful measurement with practical problem-solving in a manufacturing setting, this position at Coilcraft in Hawarden could be a strong match.
