First on your resume, lead with any housekeeping or cleaning experience you’ve had and place a spotlight on tasks that match this role, like detailed room cleaning, bed making, and maintaining bathrooms to high standards. Include any training you’ve completed on chemical handling or safety, and note your comfort level with using cleaning equipment and collaborating with team members.
To prove you have the must-have skills, describe a specific situation where your attention to detail prevented a problem or elevated guest satisfaction, and mention how you followed safety protocols while using cleaning products. Show examples of how you managed your time and priorities during a shift, and highlight how you communicate clearly with teammates and guests even under pressure.
In interviews, be ready to discuss how you contribute to a positive team dynamic, your approach to safety and cleanliness, and your flexibility with a rotating roster that includes weekends and holidays. Have a concrete example ready about a time you adapted to changing priorities or assisted a colleague to meet a target.
Smart question to ask: what does success look like for a housekeeper on the Avani Queenstown Shores team in the first month, and what specific training will you provide to help new hires hit those targets?
