R3 Robotics offers an onsite internship in Karlsruhe for an Engineering and Operations role that blends CAD design and mechanical development with hands-on work on lithium-ion battery disassembly. You’ll collaborate with mechanical and automation engineers from concept to deployment, help select hardware, design CAD models and drawings, and develop prototypes while supporting safe, controlled disassembly. They seek a final-year Mechanical Engineering student with initial hands-on experience in assembly or prototyping and a proactive, adaptable mindset suited to a lean, high-tempo startup. Proficient English is essential. To apply, highlight battery safety and high-voltage handling knowledge, showcase relevant CAD projects, and demonstrate end-to-end ownership potential in a VC-backed environment with management access.

Join us in solving one of industrial robotics' toughest challenges

R3 Robotics is developing the AI-powered dismantling platform that transforms end-of-life electric vehicle systems into strategic sources of critical materials. As global electrification accelerates, the surge in batteries and e-motors requires automated solutions that manual disassembly cannot provide. We are addressing this industrial bottleneck by enabling the automated dismantling of complex systems at scale through computer vision, artificial intelligence, and specialized robotic tooling.

Following a successful €20M Series A funding round led by HG Ventures and Suma Capital, we are expanding across Europe and preparing for our entry into the United States market in 2026. We partner with major industrial recyclers and automotive OEMs to deliver measurable impact. If you seek to work on advanced robotics within a well-funded organization scaling internationally, this is your opportunity

YOUR ROLE
In addition to supporting CAD design and mechanical development, the intern will gain hands-on exposure to our lithium‑ion battery disassembly processes. This includes working directly with battery packs alongside our engineering team, contributing to diagnostics, controlled disassembly activities, and prototype testing. You are pragmatic, open minded, demonstrate real willingness to help and looking for an internship for your last year of study? Join our dynamic team to evolve and grow your skills in a fast-paced environment !
