About Our CTCT Division

The CTCT division (a joint venture between Trimble and Caterpillar) develops positioning and control products for earthmoving and paving machines in the construction and mining industries, using technologies such as GPS, optical total stations, lasers, and sonics. The products are used in a range of applications where the operator of the machine benefits from having accurate horizontal and vertical guidance.

What Makes This Role Great:

As an intern, you will help redefine how operators interact with heavy industrial machinery. By applying gamification first principles to real-world workflows under the guidance of mentors, you will directly influence product usability.

Key Exciting Responsibilities

  • Support the review and analysis of the current in-cab touchscreen Operator Experience to discover opportunities for optimization and enhanced engagement.

  • Apply game design and gamification first principles directly to operator tasks, workflows, and productivity needs.

  • Help deliver comprehensive documentation, user experience designs, or interface concepts that exemplify intuitive recommendations.

  • Assist with user testing and analysis initiatives to validate and refine the end-to-end operator journey.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Ongoing studies or recent coursework in UX Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Game Design, or a related analytical field.

  • Strong foundational understanding of game design or gamification first principles.

  • Prior experience or academic coursework involving data analysis and workflow testing methodologies. 

  • Ability to organize technical operational requirements into clear, user-centric design concepts or written summaries.

Bonus Points For

  • Exposure to or interest in the civil construction, mining, or waste industries.

  • Academic or personal project experience with heavy equipment, telemetry, or 3D digital mapping software.
