BASF’s global management consultancy is looking for an intern to join the Marketing & Sales Academy in Ludwigshafen. This onsite role sits at the heart of BASF’s in-house consulting capabilities, focusing on strategic projects that help transform businesses across sustainability, organizational development, and growth initiatives. The team values people, collaboration and a hands-on approach, inviting you to contribute ideas that can shape learning for BASF’s Marketing and Sales professionals around the world. If you want to blend learning design with real-world impact in a global environment, this internship could be a great fit. Starting on either 1 or 16 February 2027, you’ll join the Management Consulting department for a minimum of three months and ideally up to six. Within the global Marketing & Sales Academy, you’ll help develop and deliver learning solutions for marketing and sales staff worldwide, contributing to training projects, digital learning formats and internal communications. The experience offers a window into BASF’s in-house consulting organization and a chance to work with a diverse, international team. The role blends on-site collaboration with independent project work, reflecting BASF’s mix of two to three days on campus and substantial virtual activity. You’ll be part of a dynamic, global effort to shape how BASF trains and equips its commercial teams, while enjoying a supportive environment that prioritizes a strong team spirit and inclusive culture.

Learning to shape global training projects

In this internship you’ll help plan, coordinate and implement global Marketing and Sales training initiatives, ensuring they stay aligned with overarching business goals. You’ll play a key part in the Academy’s internal communications and community-building efforts, helping to engage colleagues across regions. By examining training data, you’ll surface insights and translate them into practical recommendations that improve BASF’s learning offerings. AI and GenAI tools will assist you as you develop and refine learning concepts, content and feedback processes. You’ll also produce professional management presentations and craft communication and marketing materials for different internal audiences. Content creation will extend to developing and updating digital media and learning formats such as e-learnings, microlearnings and other interactive formats, and you’ll help maintain SharePoint pages, intranet portals and other digital channels. Finally, you’ll research current Marketing and Sales topics and distill complex material into approachable, engaging learning solutions. The position is based in Ludwigshafen and combines two to three on-site days with substantial virtual and independent project work.

What you bring to the table

This internship seeks candidates who are actively pursuing a degree in business administration, marketing and sales, international business or a closely related field, with a program that ideally requires an internship component for at least three to six months. You should be fluent in English, both in writing and speaking, with German as a plus. You’ll need solid data analytics skills and the ability to structure complex information so it can be translated into clear, professional presentations and materials. Comfort with Microsoft 365 apps, especially PowerPoint and Excel, and familiarity with AI and GenAI tools are important. Practical experience in digital media, digital learning, content creation and learning technologies will help you hit the ground running. A proactive, reliable and independent working style, especially in a virtual environment, matters, along with creativity, curiosity and a motivation to contribute your own ideas.

What BASF offers

The internship provides a practical phase where you’ll apply theory to a variety of tasks and projects, with a dedicated teambuddy as your go-to person and source of ongoing feedback. You’ll have opportunities to network across different perspectives and fields of work, expanding your professional circle. There is internship compensation to recognize your commitment, with more details available here. Flexible working hours are available depending on location and area of work.

Advice for applicants

Lead your resume with your current degree program, your focus area (Business Administration, Marketing and Sales, International Business or related), and the fact that this internship should run for three to six months as part of your studies. Demonstrate your data analytics capabilities and show one or two concise examples of translating complex information into clear presentations or learning materials. Prepare to discuss any experience with digital learning projects or content creation, and be ready to describe how you have worked autonomously in a virtual setting. When you’re asked about AI or GenAI tools, bring a concrete example of how you used them to improve a learning concept or feedback process. Finally, consider a smart question to ask at the end of an interview, for instance: how BASF’s Marketing & Sales Academy measures the impact of its global training programs and what success looks like for this role.

Tip 1: Put your internship intent at the top of your resume. It should clearly state that you’re pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and that you’re available for a three- to six-month internship as part of your program.

Tip 2: Show evidence of must-have skills with concrete outcomes. For example, describe a project where you used data to shape a learning solution, or a presentation you created that translated complex analysis into actionable recommendations.

Tip 3: Be ready to talk about virtual collaboration. Have a short example ready of how you’ve managed tasks and communicates effectively when you’re not co-located with teammates.

Tip 4: Ask a targeted question about the role’s impact. A good one could be about how the team evaluates the effectiveness of global Marketing & Sales training and what kinds of projects you’d be prioritizing early on.
