Inventory Controller
CMA CGMCMA CGM is looking for an Inventory Controller to join its Zaandam facility, offering a hybrid working pattern. This role centers on keeping inventory data accurate while turning insights into better processes and stock optimization. It’s a fit for someone who enjoys blending hands-on warehouse know-how with strong data analysis and clear reporting in a global logistics setting.
The position sits at the heart of a brand-new warehouse, where you’ll work closely with the Inventory Control Supervisor and Operations Management to ensure inventory reliability and to spot trends that drive improvements. You’ll have room to grow within CMA CGM as you bring analytical thinking into everyday inventory decisions, all within a professional team culture that also values collaboration and connection.
A day in Zaandam’s inventory control hub
You’ll analyze how stock moves through the warehouse and how space is used, spotting trends that inform better orders and stock levels. You’ll shape and maintain standards for inventory control, and you’ll build reports that guide operational and leadership decisions. You’ll often lead or help with continuous improvement projects and collaborate with Operations, Inventory Control, and customers to streamline processes. When needed, you’ll support cycle counts, stock audits, and investigations into non-conformities.
What you’ll bring to the table
Here’s what the team needs from you. Must-haves include a Certificate of No Objection (VGB) with the employer covering the application costs, strong English proficiency, and proven experience in a logistics, warehouse, or inventory control setting. Guidance for applicants
Lead with a resume section that highlights your strongest inventory analytics wins first, especially any projects where your data work led to measurable improvements in stock accuracy or efficiency. If you’re moving from another logistics or warehouse role, showcase one or two standout numbers that demonstrate your impact.
Prove the must-have skills by anchoring them to concrete results. For instance, mention how you used Excel to automate a reporting process, or how you supported an inventory optimization initiative using a specific database or WMS tool, and what that achieved in accuracy or cycle time.
In interviews, expect to discuss your approach to turning data into action. Be ready to describe how you’d run an ABC analysis, identify stock trends, and contribute to standardizing control measures across teams. Have a ready answer about a successful continuous improvement project you led or supported, including the outcome.
When you ask a question, consider focusing on how inventory data flows between departments and what success looks like in the first six months. A smart question to ask: what KPIs matter most for this role and how does the team measure progress toward inventory reliability?
