CMA CGM, a global leader in shipping and logistics, is expanding its Commercial team to push forward sustainable progress in the industry and contribute to the Group’s Net Zero Carbon by 2050 goal. The position sits onsite in Rhoon, Netherlands, and is a full-time role designed for someone who loves working across complex cargo challenges and coordinating cross-functional teams. If you’re drawn to heavy lift, out-of-gauge, breakbulk, and project cargo projects, this could be a strong fit.

Jump Aboard for #betterways. The company leads with Boldness, Imagination, Exemplarity and Excellence, continually looking for smarter ways to serve customers, support employees, and shape the future of global logistics. This is a hands-on role that sits at the nexus of sales support and project cargo execution, offering exposure to some of the industry’s most challenging shipments.

As part of its growth plan, CMA CGM is seeking a Sales Support – Breakbulk & Project Cargo to reinforce the Outside Sales team and help strengthen the company’s position in the heavy lift, out-of-gauge, breakbulk, and project cargo markets. The successful candidate will help with quotations, coordinating pricing, handling customer requests, and keeping CRM data up to date, ensuring smooth communication between customers and internal stakeholders. The overall aim is to boost customer satisfaction, support revenue growth, and position CMA CGM as the go-to partner for complex cargo transportation solutions.

Day-to-day rhythm in the project cargo desk

The role teammates closely with Outside Sales to manage opportunities and ensure timely, accurate information reaches customers. A core part of the work is preparing quotations and commercial proposals for Breakbulk and Project Cargo opportunities, coordinating pricing with internal stakeholders, and following up to keep conversations moving. You’ll also help prepare tenders, contracts, and commercial agreements, while keeping opportunities and quotations recorded in NOVA, CRM, and other systems, watching for quotation validity and required follow-up actions.

On the customer side, you’ll serve as the main internal point of contact for Breakbulk and Project Cargo inquiries, supporting colleagues in managing portfolios and commercial opportunities. You’ll respond to requests promptly and professionally, coordinate customer requirements from inquiry through shipment execution, and nurture strong relationships with customers and internal teams.

Coordination of CMA CGM’s specialized services is another key thread: Breakbulk cargo, Out-of-Gauge shipments, Heavy Lift transportation, RoRo solutions, and end-to-end project logistics. You’ll help assess cargo requirements and feasibility, and you’ll work with Operations, Equipment, Logistics, and Vessel Planning to ensure expectations are met and progress is communicated proactively.

Data management and reporting round out the role: keeping customer and opportunity information current in CRM systems, recording commercial activities accurately, and producing reports on quotation activity, conversions, pipeline development, and commercial performance. You’ll also contribute market intelligence and customer insights to support forecasting and business planning efforts.

Advice for applicants

Lead your resume with relevant project cargo experience, especially where you’ve prepared quotations or proposals for heavy lift or breakbulk shipments, and highlight any involvement with cross-functional pricing or tender work. If you’ve used CRM tools to track opportunities, mention a concrete example and the impact it had on sales follow-through.

Show concrete proof of the must-have skills the team is seeking: customer service mindset, organisational discipline, ability to juggle priorities, and sharp analytical thinking. Use specific numbers or outcomes, like quotes issued, response times improved, or deals progressed, to illustrate your impact.

Prepare for interviews by walking through a full quote-to-shipment scenario, naming the internal teams you collaborated with (Operations, Equipment, Logistics, Vessel Planning) and describing how you kept customers updated when plans changed or timelines shifted.

End with a thoughtful question that ties to this role, such as how CMA CGM uses the NOVA CRM and other tools to manage the Breakbulk & Project Cargo pipeline, or how success is measured for this team within the broader commercial organization.
