Compensation ranges from 84 000 to 110 000; Master’s degree in law preferred. Role Profile

The Legal Counsel, provides legal support to the business by assisting in contract management, legal research, and risk mitigation. Works under the guidance of senior legal team members to deliver practical legal solutions, support business operations, and build foundational legal expertise. 

Main Responsibilities

Support senior legal counsel in providing advice to business stakeholders across key areas such as real estate, corporate / commercial, employment, and regulatory compliance
•    Assist in preparing legal research memos and background analysis to inform business decisions
•    Monitor and summarize legislative updates and communicate relevant impacts to the business
•    Provide initial guidance on routine inquiries, escalating complex matters appropriately
•    Contribute to delivering clear, practical, and business-focused legal solutions
•    Draft, review, and manage standard legal documents, including:
a. Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs)
b. Property-related agreements
c. Standard commercial and transactional contracts
•    Support contract negotiations by preparing drafts, redlines, and summaries
•    Ensure contracts follow established templates, policies, and risk guidelines · Identify potential issues and escalate higher-risk provisions
•    Support legal counsel in managing risk and compliance activities
•    Assist with standard disputes and claims; initial stages of investigations
•    Gather and organize documentation for disputes, litigation, and internal reviews
•    Conduct preliminary analysis and escalate findings as needed
•    Help ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements
•    Provide day-to-day support to legal counsel on active matters and projects
•    Coordinate with internal stakeholders to collect information and support legal processes
•    Liaise with external counsel or vendors under direction
•    Contribute to an integrated and service-oriented legal team environment
•    Manage assigned tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities
•    Handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
•    Take ownership of routine deliverables while seeking guidance on complex issues
•    Actively build legal, industry, and business knowledge · Continuously improve processes, templates, and ways of working

Requirements

  • 2-3+ years of experience gained in a strong law firm or in-house environment
  • Law degree and license to practice law in Ontario
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and drafting skills
  • Experience practicing law in a complex multidivisional organization and driving business solutions an asset Or experience in full-service law firm
  • Strong experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements is essential
  • Strong aptitude to adapt to new technologies and optimize processes
  • Proficient with microsoft office suite
  • Real estate, commercial transactions and employment law experience preferred

Compensation Data

Salary Range - $84,000 - $110,000
