Ghobash Group is looking for a skilled Mason to join its Abu Dhabi team on a full-time basis. The role follows a hybrid setup, blending on-site masonry tasks with collaboration that can be coordinated off-site as projects progress. This is a hands-on role for practical professionals who enjoy shaping walls, foundations, and structures on large industrial or construction projects. The company is a regional employer with a footprint in construction and related fields, and this position invites you to contribute to its ongoing site work in the UAE.

If you’ve got a solid track record in laying brick, block, and stone structures and you’re comfortable with the physical aspects of the job, this could be a good fit. The team values safety-minded workers who communicate clearly and work well with foremen, supervisors, and fellow tradespeople on challenging sites.

A background in secondary education or a vocational/trade certificate in masonry or construction trades helps, and they’re looking for candidates who bring 3–5 years of masonry experience, including 1–2 years on industrial, oil and gas, petrochemical, or large construction projects when possible. The role also requires the ability to read basic construction drawings and take precise measurements, along with valid HSE induction and basic safety certifications. Familiarity with oil and gas site discipline, permit systems, and quality standards is helpful but not mandatory.

Masonry in the field

On a typical day you’ll read construction drawings, layouts, and specifications to plan out the work, then build and repair walls and partitions using concrete blocks, bricks, or stone. You’ll mix, apply, and finish mortar, plaster, and screed to the required thickness, and you’ll contribute to concrete-related tasks like plinths, equipment foundations, trenches, manholes, drainage chambers, and curbs. You’ll check alignment, level, and dimensions with spirit levels, plumb bobs, and measuring tapes, and you’ll install lintels and embedded items as shown in the drawings, including openings for doors, windows, and services when needed. Where required, you’ll perform waterproofing, grouting, and joint sealing, and you’ll assist with formwork, rebar tying, and concrete pouring as projects demand. Keeping track of material quantities and minimizing waste is part of the job, as is maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organized work area and supporting quality inspections to promptly address any non-conformances.

What you’ll need to bring to the team

  • Training or certification in masonry or construction trades via secondary schooling or a vocational program
  • 3–5 years of masonry experience, with 1–2 years on industrial, oil and gas, petrochemical, or large construction projects preferred
  • Ability to read basic construction drawings and take accurate measurements
  • Valid HSE induction and basic safety certifications (such as site safety orientation, working at height, and H2S awareness where applicable)
  • Familiarity with oil and gas site discipline, permit systems, and quality standards is an advantage

The practical side of the job

The position is full-time and located in Abu Dhabi, with a hybrid work arrangement. You should be comfortable working at remote locations as required by project needs, and you’ll be expected to use hand and power tools safely while performing demanding manual tasks. Strong teamwork and effective communication will help you stay aligned with the foreman and the rest of the crew, and you’ll need to adhere to safety and quality standards on every site you join.

Guidance for applicants

Lead your resume with your masonry background, prioritizing the 3–5 years of experience and highlighting the 1–2 years spent on industrial or oil and gas projects.

In interviews, demonstrate your ability to read drawings and take measurements by citing concrete project examples where you laid out walls or foundations and verified dimensions on site.

Be prepared to discuss your experience with formwork, rebar tying, concrete pouring, waterproofing, and joint sealing, as well as how you contributed to quality inspections and waste reduction.

Ask a focused question about how permit systems and quality standards are applied on onsite projects, and inquire how the team handles remote-location work or site access during busy phases.
