QC Inspector, Welding & Painting
Ghobash GroupEmirates Electrical & Instrumentation Company LLC, a proud member of the Juman Energy Group, has spent almost 20 years contributing to the UAE’s oil and gas sector with onshore and offshore projects. ADNOC sits among its major clients, alongside Tier 1 and Tier 2 EPC contractors, as the company delivers full EPC&M services for electrical and instrumentation works. Ghobash Group is assisting Emirates Electrical & Instrumentation Company LLC in finding a QC Inspector, Welding & Painting for a full-time role in Abu Dhabi with a hybrid work arrangement. This is a good fit for professionals who enjoy hands-on quality control across welding and painting, and who want a role with real project impact. The team operates in a high-stakes environment where safety, accuracy and teamwork matter every day.
If you’re drawn to roles that blend inspection discipline with practical field work, this position could be a strong match. You’ll be coordinating with welders, painters, NDT crews and commissioning colleagues to ensure all work aligns with approved drawings, procedures and the project’s ITPs, while supporting the turnover of final quality documentation.
Day-to-day in welding and painting QC
Your day will start with studying approved drawings, inspection and test plans, welding procedure specifications and coating procedures so you can map out how inspections will unfold. You’ll verify welder qualifications and continuity records and confirm material identity and traceability against MTCs and project specifications before welding begins, then check joint fit-up, alignment and cleanliness beforehand.
While welding is in progress, you’ll monitor parameters such as preheat and interpass temperature, track welding settings, manage consumable controls, shielding gas and overall compliance with the approved WPS, keeping careful records. After welding, you’ll perform visual examinations of the welds and confirm they meet the required acceptance criteria, and you’ll carry out coating-related checks, including surface prep, surface profile, moisture and atmospheric conditions, as well as measuring wet and dry film thickness and auditing paint materials against data sheets and batch numbers.
You’ll coordinate closely with NDT contractors for methods like RT, UT, MT, PT and PMI, review reports and radiographs, and manage repairs and re-tests as needed. You’ll also witness post-weld heat treatment and review heat treatment charts, and coordinate hydrostatic and pneumatic tests with piping and commissioning teams. Documentation is a big part of the job: maintaining weld maps, logs, welder performance records and joint traceability, handling NCRs, punch lists and corrective action requests, and supporting client inspections and RFIs as they come up. You’ll prepare inspection reports, checksheets and the final quality dossier for turnover, and ensure inspection tools and gauges are calibrated and in good condition. Throughout, you’ll follow the Permit-to-Work system and site HSE rules, participate in toolbox talks, and step in if unsafe conditions or quality risks arise. You’ll also provide guidance to welders, painters and supervisors to promote a right-first-time culture.

Practical details you should know
This is a full-time role based in Abu Dhabi, with a hybrid work arrangement. There may be assignments at remote locations as required by projects.
Inspection duties include using calibrated gauges and devices, keeping records up to date, and adhering to the Permit-to-Work system and site HSE rules at all times. The role involves hands-on work with welders, painters and supervisors to ensure quality is built in from the start and reflected in the final turnover documentation.
All of this is expected to be carried out in a collaborative environment that values clear communication, problem solving and a practical, right-first-time approach to quality on complex fabrication, erection, installation and pre-commissioning activities.
Tips for making an impression in this QC role
Lead with your oil and gas EPC background on your resume, and place your welding and coating QC credentials at the top so the reviewer sees them first.
Use concrete examples to demonstrate hands-on work with WPS/PQRs, WPQs and material traceability, and name the codes you’ve dealt with (such as ASME B31.3, ASME IX, API 1104, AWS D1.1) as well as any PWHT or hydro/pneumatic testing you’ve witnessed.
Be ready to explain how you close NCRs, punch lists and corrective actions, and how you keep weld maps, logs and calibration records current and complete.
Ask a targeted question that shows you understand the project workflow, for instance about how the team handles NDT findings and reparations, or what a typical RFI process looks like on ADNOC-focused scopes.
