The company has been delivering major civil infrastructure, engineering and energy projects across Australia for more than 25 years, supported by extensive global expertise and resources. This is an onsite, hands-on leadership role that would suit someone who thrives in a production environment and wants to help keep a critical facility running smoothly.
The Mechanical Supervisor will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the site’s mechanical function, ensuring fixed plant, equipment and machinery operate safely, reliably and efficiently to support continuous production. If you enjoy problem solving in real time and have a passion for keeping production moving, this could be the right fit.
In this role you’ll be part of a team that keeps the precast facility productive while upholding safety standards and quality outcomes. You’ll lead by example on the floor, coordinate maintenance activities, and support the broader production team to minimise downtime and maintain steady performance. If you’re looking for a hands-on leadership position where your hands-on skills and decision-making make a direct impact, you’ll feel at home here.
The Work At Bouygues Construction’s Adelaide Precast Facility
On a typical day you’ll oversee the mechanical function on site, ensuring that all fixed plant, equipment and machinery operate safely and reliably to support continuous production. You’ll work closely with boilermakers and fitters, providing clear direction, technical guidance and on-the-spot problem solving to respond to breakdowns and to drive maintenance improvements. You’ll plan and supervise preventative maintenance to keep the plant healthy while staying calm under pressure in an environment where production cannot stop. A strong focus on safety will guide your decisions and actions on the floor, and you’ll communicate clearly with the team to keep everyone aligned and productive.
You’ll coordinate fault finding and repairs, monitor equipment performance, and push for reliability gains across the facility. The role involves hands-on supervision, so you’ll be comfortable getting involved in the day-to-day operations while also stepping back to lead long-term maintenance strategies. You’ll play a key part in ensuring the precast production line runs smoothly, reliably and safely, contributing to steady output and continuous improvement across the plant.

Tips To Stand Out In This Mechanical Supervisor Application
Put your most relevant credentials up front. Lead with your trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter or Boilermaker and immediately mention your experience in precast, manufacturing, concrete or heavy industrial production, plus any leadership roles you’ve held supervising mechanical or maintenance teams.
Show concrete proof of your must-have skills. Provide on-your-feet examples of how you’ve responded to breakdowns, led preventative maintenance, and guided tradespeople on safety and reliability improvements. If you can quantify outcomes, uptime improvements, reduced downtime, or safety gains, include them.
Prepare for interview scenarios that mirror the role. Expect questions about handling a breakdown when production cannot stop, detailing the steps you’d take, the stakeholders you’d involve and how you’d balance safety with output. Have a clear story ready about a time you drove a maintenance improvement in a similar environment.
Ask a targeted question that shows you’re thinking about the team and the plant’s performance. For example, inquiring about the current maintenance strategy, available reliability metrics, or how the supervisor collaborates with boilermakers, fitters and subcontractors demonstrates your focus on practical outcomes and safe, reliable production.
