Maple Leaf Foods, a carbon neutral food company with a long history in Canadian and North American markets, is on the lookout for an MRO Coordinator to join its Winnipeg site onsite. The role reports to the MRO Leader and focuses on aligning parts inventory and warehousing plans with the needs of the maintenance team, aiming to minimize unplanned downtime while keeping stock at prudent levels. It’s a good fit for someone who thrives in a collaborative, process-driven environment and wants to contribute to sustainable food production.

Maple Leaf Foods operates across Canada with around 10,000 team members and sites in more than 20 locations; the company aims to be the most sustainable protein producer on earth. The organization emphasises diversity and inclusion, strong leadership values, and a safety-first culture, with benefits and development opportunities designed to support ongoing growth.

The position is full-time and onsite in Winnipeg, with a base salary in the listed range and a clear path to contribute to reliability and inventory systems that support the Maintenance department’s goals. A candidate who can bring structure, clear communication, and a readiness to adapt to change will likely fit well here.

Keeping the warehouse humming

In this role, you’ll work with planners to ensure required parts are available before scheduled work begins, and you’ll kit and stage components ahead of assignments so crews can stay productive. You’ll handle returns as required and collaborate closely with Maintenance, Reliability, Operations, Six Sigma and Engineering to keep parts flowing and processes aligned with company standards. Regular checks of stock levels, supplier performance, and part specifications will help you guide decisions on lead times and part numbers, while you participate in ongoing strategy discussions to improve materials management. You’ll also follow MRO processes related to compliance and inventory controls, remind suppliers about late deliveries, verify received items against purchase orders, and manage routine inventory counts and hazardous waste storage as part of maintaining a safe, orderly warehouse. The role also includes preserving the condition of spare parts and contributing to continuous improvement efforts within Reliability.

The must-have requirements

The ideal candidate brings a blend of hands-on inventory discipline, warehouse experience and a practical mindset for maintenance operations. Here’s what to showcase in your application.

  • Three or more years leading inventory, warehousing or purchasing management in an industrial setting, with a track record of applying MRO best practices
  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills
  • Solid computer proficiency across Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Outlook
  • Ability to perform effectively in a cold-temperature manufacturing environment
  • Experience with a CMM system and with following Standard Operating Procedures in daily work

Pay, benefits and practical details

The role carries a base salary in the range of CAD 47,000.00 to CAD 69,000.00 per year. The stated base salary reflects targeted compensation at the time of posting and may vary based on skills, experience, education, training, job-related knowledge and other organizational requirements. For part-time roles, salaries are adjusted to reflect scheduled hours.

Maple Leaf Foods offers a comprehensive package focused on health and well-being from day one, plus a Defined Contribution Pension Plan with company matching. The company also supports learning and development through workshops and events, a tuition reimbursement program for eligible education, and opportunities to volunteer with paid days off each year. The role is onsite at the Winnipeg site, with the usual safety and environmental responsibilities that come with working in a large food-production operation. In addition to daily duties, the team maintains alignment with the company’s Health and Safety Program and food safety commitments.

Advice for applicants

Lead your resume with concrete proof of your 3+ years in inventory, warehousing or purchasing management, and highlight any specific MRO improvements you led or supported in an industrial setting.

Show off your experience with a CMM system and your track record using Microsoft Office tools and SOPs. Include examples that quantify how your actions improved accuracy, reduced cycle times, or cut waste in the warehouse.

Be ready to discuss cross-functional collaboration with Maintenance, Reliability, Operations and Engineering, and share a concrete example of how you contributed to a continuous improvement initiative, ideally tied to reliability or safety outcomes.

Prepare a question that reflects the role’s first 90 days, such as what MRO process pain points the team is focusing on and how the coordinator is expected to contribute to addressing them.
