AEG Vision is looking for an Optometrist to join the Acuity Eyecare group on-site in Pittsburgh, PA, on a full-time basis. The role centers on conducting comprehensive eye exams and practising to the full capacity of the license, while supporting practice growth through patient relationships and education about eye care. The company aims to deliver thoughtful, patient-focused eye care and eyewear solutions, and this position will suit someone who values clear communication and teamwork.

The role is a good fit for optometrists who want to be hands-on with patients, build lasting relationships, and contribute to a community-focused eyecare team. It’s an onsite opportunity in Pittsburgh that invites you to impact patient health and satisfaction while aligning with Acuity Eyecare Group values.

A day in the exam chair

You’ll conduct comprehensive eye exams and run vision tests, beginning with a verbal interview to capture health and ocular history, medical issues, and the patient’s goals for their visit. You’ll guide patients through options to correct ametropias and to address systemic or ocular disease, then transition smoothly to staff for follow-up as needed.

You’ll educate patients about their choices and how treatments fit their visual needs, while fostering long-term loyalty to the practice. In addition to diagnosing sight problems and prescribing eyeglasses, contact lenses, and medications, you may offer therapies such as vision therapy or low-vision rehabilitation, noting that some options are brand-specific.

You’ll provide pre- and postoperative care for eye surgery patients, including postoperative checks like examining eyes the day after cataract or refractive procedures. You’ll assess patients for diseases such as diabetes and refer them to other healthcare providers when appropriate, while promoting eye health through practical guidance on contact lens care, periodic exams, and ongoing upkeep. You’ll also communicate clearly with opticians and other sales staff to recommend lenses with the latest coatings and designs to deliver the best possible outcomes for each patient.

Tips to help you shine in this optometrist role

Lead with your credentials. Put your Doctor of Optometry and your state boards status at the top of your resume so reviewers can verify you’re licensed to practise and meet the required qualifications right away.

Show evidence of patient care and education. Highlight your experience performing eye exams, determining health and ocular histories, discussing remediation options, and delivering pre- and postoperative care when relevant, including how you discuss treatment choices with patients and hand off to staff when needed.

Demonstrate your collaboration with the eyewear team. Include examples of how you’ve translated clinical findings into lens recommendations with the latest coatings and designs, and how you’ve communicated these options to opticians or sales staff to ensure patients get the best possible pair of glasses or contacts.

Be ready to talk about building patient loyalty. Prepare a concise story about how you educated patients, promoted eye health, and supported ongoing relationships that align with Acuity Eyecare Group values and the practice’s approach to patient care.
