NMC Healthcare is hiring for a podiatrist to join SSMC’s clinical team in Abu Dhabi. The role is full-time and onsite within a major tertiary hospital that serves a wide network of specialties and offers advanced diagnostic and treatment options. This position appeals to someone who wants a stable, patient-facing role in a high-performing hospital and enjoys collaborating with a multidisciplinary group.

In this role you’ll provide safe, evidence-based podiatry care, assist in surgeries, prescribe orthotics, and apply therapeutic treatments. You’ll work closely with colleagues across the hospital to support patient outcomes and contribute to a team that values hands-on clinical work as well as clinical improvement initiatives.

SSMC stands out in the region as a large tertiary facility with 742 patient beds, 18 operating theatres including a hybrid operating room, a 26-bed neonatal intensive care unit, and the UAE’s largest pathology lab. The scale and scope of the hospital set the stage for meaningful clinical work and ongoing learning opportunities.

A day in the podiatry suite

Your days blend patient care with the practical operations that keep a busy podiatry service running. You’ll manage inventory and ensure essential supplies are available, flag shortages early to supervisors, and help arrange replenishments when needed. You’ll also engage in budget-related tasks within your area and take care of the daily administrative duties that keep the department organized, accurate, and compliant.

Clinical duties will include assisting with minor surgical procedures, diabetic wound management, and biomechanical assessments, as well as participating in the production of orthotic devices and therapies, including pediatric foot health. You’ll document patient contacts in line with the Medical Record Documentation policy and contribute to daily and monthly reporting, all while upholding safety and quality standards that govern the hospital environment.

In short, you’ll be a hands-on clinician who also supports departmental operations and participates in broader strategies aimed at benefiting hospital patients.

What you’ll need to join the team

You’ll need a solid podiatry credential and a current license to practice in the country.

  • A Bachelor of Science in Podiatry or a three-year podiatry certificate from an accredited program (or an equivalent credential)
  • Current national license to practise

While not mandatory, an MSc in a relevant clinical field is considered desirable and could shorten the experience requirement by one year.

  • MSc in a relevant clinical field (desirable; could reduce the required years of experience by one year)

Advice for applicants

Lead with your podiatry credentials and your national license on your resume, placing the must-haves front and centre so the recruiter sees you meet the basics right away.

Show concrete experience with biomechanical assessments and orthotic fabrication, and highlight any work with pediatric foot health, diabetic wound care, or involvement in minor surgeries. If you’ve led or supported clinical cases, describe the outcomes and your specific contributions.

Be prepared to discuss how you’ve supported departmental operations, from stock control to administrative tasks, and share examples of how you’ve helped maintain safety and quality in a clinical setting.

Come with a thoughtful question about how the podiatry team collaborates with other departments and how they contribute to hospital-wide strategies that improve patient care, learning, and outcomes.
