Liebherr Group’s Australian arm is on the hunt for a Product Manager to steer the autonomous mining equipment portfolio from Perth. The role sits in the Mining division and operates with a global scope, reporting to the Head of Product Management – Autonomous Mining Equipment. It’s a full-time, on-site opportunity ideal for someone who blends mining know-how with a commercial mindset and a knack for translating customer needs into practical technology solutions. Liebherr-Australia is part of a global family that employs more than 50,000 people across more than 140 companies in 50 countries, and this role puts you into the heart of that international collaboration while working from Perth. If you’re drawn to complex equipment and the promise of autonomous tech in mining, this could be a strong fit.

The Australian operation focuses on selling and servicing earthmoving machines, mining machines, mobile cranes, tower cranes, maritime cranes and deep foundation machines across Australia and New Zealand. Though the head office is in Adelaide, the Perth-based product management role connects with global engineering teams, customers and technology providers to shape the future of Liebherr’s autonomous and semi-autonomous mining solutions.

Based in Perth, you’ll join a team that partners with international stakeholders to identify market opportunities, assess customer needs, and translate those insights into technology-enabled product strategies. This is a role for someone who wants to influence a growing portfolio and work across borders to deliver real-world mining innovations.

Guiding autonomous mining products from Perth

On a day-to-day basis, you’ll map market requirements for autonomous and semi-autonomous mining equipment across international regions and turn those findings into actionable development priorities. You’ll help define product strategies and roadmaps for Liebherr’s autonomous mining offerings, balancing competitive pressures with customer value while keeping a close eye on performance benchmarks. You’ll develop and maintain cost-per-tonne models and performance benchmarks for both manned and unmanned equipment, and you’ll spot emerging technologies and industry trends that could become new products or services. Collaboration is at the core of the role: you’ll work with engineering, R&D, sales and product management to align requirements with development plans, and you’ll contribute to the business cases that underpin autonomous initiatives. You’ll also engage with customers, technology providers, industry bodies and regulatory authorities to ensure the portfolio stays aligned with market needs. When new autonomous products roll out, you’ll support Sales and Marketing with launches and help drive continuous improvement across product development and evolution processes.

Advice for applicants

First, highlight your mining engineering background and the 10+ years you’ve spent in similar leadership roles on the top of your resume, and draw a line to your experience with haul truck technology and autonomous systems so it’s obvious you’ve got the hands-on knowledge the role requires.

Second, demonstrate how you’ve turned market research, benchmarking and competitive analyses into concrete product decisions. If you’ve built cost-per-tonne models or similar performance metrics, share a concise example that shows the impact on a project or business case.

Third, be ready to talk about working with international teams and multiple functions, engineering, R&D, sales and product management. Bring variations of collaboration that prove you can align diverse groups toward a common roadmap and successful launches.

Fourth, prepare a thoughtful question that shows you understand how the Perth-based role fits with global strategy. A good example: ask how this position coordinates with international stakeholders to shape the autonomous mining roadmap and what milestones are expected in the coming 12 to 18 months.
