Bouygues Construction Australia is seeking a Senior Contracts Manager to lead subcontracting and procurement efforts on major projects across civil infrastructure, engineering and energy and services. The company has been delivering in Australia for more than 25 years and draws on global resources to back local work. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Perth, designed for someone who can shape strategy, steer tendering, and oversee commercial delivery across multiple subcontract packages. The position will suit someone who enjoys working with delivery teams and senior stakeholders to protect project outcomes and ensure commercial success.

As the Senior Contracts Manager, you’ll take a central role in planning, negotiating and administering contracts throughout the project lifecycle. If you thrive when you can influence procurement choices, balance risk, and keep a project on track on a live site, this opportunity could be a strong match.

The company values diversity and welcomes applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians. If you’re drawn to working on projects that shape the country’s infrastructure, this could be a good fit for you.

Shaping subcontracting and procurement on site

You’ll shape the subcontracting and procurement approach to support safe, timely delivery and solid commercial outcomes. You’ll work with project, design, delivery and commercial teams to map trade packages and set the pace for procurement priorities, timelines and approval gates aligned to the project programme. Tender activity will be coordinated end to end, from drafting documentation and issuing requests to managing clarifications and maintaining clear records. When tenders are in, you’ll lead the commercial evaluations, weighing price, qualifications, exclusions, risks and how well the proposal fits the programme.

Beyond evaluation, you’ll prepare tender recommendations and submissions for review and approval, then identify and assess commercial and contractual risks, proposing practical mitigations. You’ll negotiate subcontract terms, pricing, scope, programme and risk allocation within your delegated authority, and oversee awards so contracts are properly reviewed, executed and communicated. During delivery you’ll manage subcontract commercial administration, handling variations, claims, payments, notices and all contractual correspondence. You’ll monitor performance and the commercial status of subcontractors, escalating issues when needed and supporting timely resolution. Working with delivery teams, you’ll manage scope changes, procurement interfaces and cost impacts, while keeping procurement schedules, contract registers and related documentation up to date. Regular reporting on procurement progress, commitments, risks, variations and forecast outcomes will help keep stakeholders informed, and you’ll build strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, project teams and senior stakeholders.

Must-have foundations

  • A bachelor degree in construction management, quantity surveying, contract management, procurement, law, business or a related discipline; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Significant experience in senior procurement, subcontracting or contract management roles within construction, infrastructure or similar project environments.
  • Proven ability to lead complex tender processes and negotiate subcontract agreements.
  • Strong knowledge of subcontracting, procurement and contract management processes within construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Understanding of trade packaging, tendering, commercial evaluation, contract negotiation and subcontract administration.
  • Ability to interpret construction contracts, scopes of work, specifications, drawings and programme requirements.
