CAE is building the future with One CAE, a team that values creativity, growth, and innovation. As a technology company, CAE digitizes the physical world by delivering simulation training and critical operations support solutions that help pilots, airlines, defence and security forces perform at their best. The role sits in Montréal, with a hybrid work setup, and it’s perfect for someone who loves driving complex programs from idea through delivery, across government and customer ecosystems.

The Project Management Team at CAE delivers solutions across multi-domain operations, including air, land, maritime, space and cyber, with regional partners. This Montreal-based position reports to the Portfolio Leader and aims to bring CAE’s wide range of capabilities to local markets through close collaboration with governments and customers. This evergreen posting is intended to build a pipeline of candidates for future needs.

In this role you’ll be steering complex initiatives from start to finish, balancing financial and operational resources to protect profitability, and guiding a matrix of specialists to keep plans on track. If you enjoy coordinating cross-functional teams, shaping project plans, and helping clients realize CAE’s capabilities, you’ll likely feel at home here.

Day-to-day rhythm in the role

You’ll autonomously oversee one or more projects across their life cycles, aligning people, schedules, subcontractors and other moving parts to meet contractual obligations. You’ll craft and execute robust project management plans for complex initiatives and provide steady, day-to-day leadership to the matrix team that supports delivery. You’ll also contribute to proposals by aligning project management elements with the wider solution, drawing on CAE’s capabilities to create compelling offers.

Responsibilities expand to directing multiple projects simultaneously, applying organizational project management practices, and sharing best practices with colleagues. You’ll negotiate subcontract terms and workshare agreements when needed, and you’ll resolve scheduling conflicts by reprioritizing activities. As the primary customer liaison, you’ll negotiate and secure customer acceptance while maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and you’ll support the technical, cost and schedule aspects of proposals. Implementing a project work breakdown structure and exploring opportunities to amend contracts to extend scope or improve financial returns are also on the range of duties you’ll handle, along with participating in broader organizational initiatives aligned to your career interests.

Across this scope you’ll be expected to drive effective governance, manage risks, and keep lines of communication clear so customers feel supported and informed. The role calls for a steady hand in balancing delivery logistics with the bigger-picture goals of CAE and its partners across multiple domains and geographies.

Advice for applicants

Lead your resume with the must-haves: open with your five-plus years in high-technology environments and call out four or more years in project management, along with your PMP and CGP/ITAR readiness if applicable.

Demonstrate you can manage multiple projects and lead a matrix team by citing concrete examples that show how you allocated resources, coordinated schedules, and negotiated subcontract terms while keeping customers aligned and informed.

Be ready in interviews to discuss how you handle cross-time-zone collaboration, your approach to travel commitments (25%), and how you apply project-management practices to balance scope, cost and schedule across multi-domain programs.

Ask a focused question about the team’s cadence for coordinating across air, land, maritime, space and cyber domains, and inquire how the portfolio leader measures project success and customer satisfaction in this environment.
