Modine Manufacturing Company is looking for a Quality Inspector to join its Calgary onsite team on the 2nd shift. This is a full-time role with a global manufacturer known for thermal management and air-quality solutions. Modine has been in business for more than a century and now employs about 13,000 people worldwide, with operations across North and South America, Europe and Asia. If you enjoy precise work that helps products meet high standards, this could be a good fit.

The company focuses on climate solutions and performance technologies that help reduce emissions, conserve resources and support cleaner running equipment. Headquartered in Racine, Wisconsin, Modine’s global footprint means you’d be part of a longtime player in the manufacturing world, working on site in Calgary to help deliver reliable products to customers.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, with solid problem-solving skills and a practical grasp of quality principles in manufacturing. If you’ve thrived in similar roles and enjoy collaborating with production teams to uphold quality, this position is worth a closer look.

Quality checks on the line

On a typical day, the Quality Inspector ensures products meet engineering standards before they leave the plant. You’ll start by checking incoming materials and studying plans, schedules, blueprints and specifications to understand exactly what’s required. You’ll help confirm that procedures are in place to achieve the target quality and you’ll perform final inspections before shipments, documenting any non-conformances and confirming that finished goods meet all engineering criteria. Throughout, you’ll keep thorough records of inspection results and build performance reports to help track quality trends. You’ll also share your quality knowledge with the production crew, helping them understand QA processes and why these standards matter to product quality.

Key qualifications

Here's what the team is looking for, broken into must-haves and nice-to-haves.

  • Must-have: prior experience in a quality inspection role
  • Must-have: solid knowledge of quality principles and how to apply them in a manufacturing setting
  • Must-have: a clear commitment to continuous improvement
  • Must-have: strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make solid decisions
  • Must-have: experience in a metal fabrication environment is a plus
  • Nice-to-have: comfort interpreting plans, schedules, blueprints and specifications to confirm design intent
  • Nice-to-have: ability to document findings clearly and contribute to performance records

Compensation and benefits on offer

This is a full-time, onsite position in Calgary for a 2nd-shift schedule. Modine offers a competitive benefits package, which could include paid vacation, short-term disability, health, dental, vision, life insurance and more. Human Resources will provide more detail on benefits during the hiring process. Modine is an equal-opportunity employer, and applicants will be considered without regard to race, colour, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, veteran status or any other protected characteristic.

Tips for applicants

Put your most relevant QA experience up front in your resume. Lead with a short summary that mentions your years in quality inspection, your work with incoming materials and your familiarity with reading plans or blueprints, plus your track record documenting inspection findings.

Back up the must-haves with concrete examples. Describe a time you identified a non-conformance, how you reported it, and what action you helped drive to improve the process or reduce defects on the line.

Be ready to talk about how you review plans and specifications and how you communicate QC requirements to production teams. Have a brief story ready about a final inspection you led and the steps you took when you found a deviation from engineering standards.

Ask a targeted question during the interview, such as how the team collaborates with engineering and what the first 90 days on the Calgary line look like for someone in this role.
