MacKillop Family Services is seeking experienced Residential Care Workers for the South Metro OOHC program in the Dandenong area, on a 24-hour roster that includes days, afternoons, sleepovers and active overnight shifts. You will support young people with high and complex needs in a therapeutic, safe setting, assisting their development and independence. Key criteria include a Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (Residential and Out of Home Care) or equivalent, completion of four mandatory Residential Care Skill Set competencies, trauma knowledge, empathy and strong boundaries. Must have a valid driver license, First Aid (six months remaining), WWCC, NDIS Worker Screening and Police check. Remuneration is SCHCADS Level 2 or 3, with salary packaging, paid training, Fitness Passport and EAP. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged to apply. About the role

MacKillop Family Services is seeking experienced Residential Care Workers to join our South Metro Out of Home Care (OOHC) programs. Our programs provide residential care, home based care, lead tenant and case management support for young people with high and complex needs, as well as a therapeutically orientated program for young people in protective placements. Our Residential Services offer safe and supportive accommodation for children and young people referred through the Child Protection system.

As a Residential Care Worker, you will play a key role in the day-to-day operations of the unit, which include responding to the emotional and practical needs of young people, supporting their development and independence, and maintains a safe and nurturing environment. Responsibilities include engaging in therapeutic care practices, completing household duties, and fulfilling administrative requirements.

We currently have multiple part-time and casual roster opportunities available across our South Metro Out of Home Care VIC (OOHC) program. This includes day shifts, afternoon shifts, and active (stand-up) overnight shifts.

Our South Metro Out of Home Care (OOHC) services span from the inner-seaside suburbs of Melbourne to the Mornington Peninsula. The position of Residential Care Worker will report to the Residential House Supervisor.

Key Selection Criteria

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (Residential and Out of Home Care) or other similar relevant qualification.
• Completion of four (4) additional mandatory competencies (Residential Care Skill Set)
• Demonstrated experience as a Residential Care Worker, supporting young people and children.
• Extensive knowledge of trauma, and how it affects the development and behaviours of young people and children.
• A genuine interest in the wellbeing of young people, with the ability to demonstrate empathy in an open-minded and non-judgemental manner toward those in our care.
• Highly developed capacity for emotional self-regulation including the capacity to set and maintain consistent boundaries to provide safety, stability and consistency.

You must have a:

• Valid and current Driver Licence
• Must have a First Aid Certificate with a minimum of 6 months remaining validity
• Satisfactory Criminal History Check (paid for by MacKillop);
• Valid Employee Working with Children Check;
• Valid and current NDIS Workers Screening Check (for risk assessed / client facing roles).
• A minimum mandatory qualification of a relevant Certificate IV, along with the completion of the four (4) additional mandatory competencies that make up the Residential Care Skill Set.
