Ardene is adding a Sales Associate to its Courtenay store, an energetic fashion retailer known for a friendly, fast-paced store environment. This onsite role is ideal for someone who loves fashion, enjoys helping customers, and thrives in a team setting. If you’re upbeat, customer-focused and eager to grow in retail, this could be a fit.
The Sales Associate will be the face of the store, delivering great service while keeping the sales floor inviting and organized. You’ll help customers pick outfits, keep product displays fresh, and assist with processing purchases. Expect to stay current on promotions and new arrivals, and to pitch products with knowledge and care. You’ll also lend a hand with merchandising, stock replenishment and shipments, all while following store policies and keeping the space clean and welcoming.
A day on the shop floor means blending service with teamwork. You’ll greet customers, answer questions about products, and re-engage shoppers to help them find what they want. You’ll contribute to eye-catching merchandise displays, restock shelves as needed, and help maintain a neat and tidy store environment. On the cash register, you’ll handle transactions smoothly and accurately, while staying aware of promotions and applicable policies. The role also includes other duties as assigned by management to support the store’s goals.
What you’ll bring to the role
- Solid ability to sell and deliver friendly, helpful customer service
- Clear, approachable communication and good interpersonal skills
- Comfort working independently as well as collaborating with a team
Nice-to-haves
- Prior retail or customer service experience is a plus
Pay and practical details
This is an onsite position in Courtenay, with a wage of $17.85 per hour. Availability includes days, evenings and weekends, so you should be able to work across those times. The role requires physical ability to stand for long periods and to climb a ladder, plus the capacity to move, lift and handle merchandise and fixtures up to 30 pounds.
Guidance for your Ardene Courtenay application
Lead your resume with anything that shows you can sell and serve customers well, and give a concrete example of a time you helped a shopper find exactly what they needed. The must-haves lean on strong selling and communication, so make sure those skills appear early in your experience or summary. When you describe past roles, illustrate both autonomous work and teamwork, link them to how you kept shelves tidy, supported promotions, or helped a teammate close a sale.
Prepare a couple of concise stories you can share in interviews. One should show you guiding a customer through a purchase from greeting to checkout, another should illustrate collaborating on a merchandising task or helping out during a busy shift. Be ready to discuss your availability across days, evenings and weekends, and how you’d handle long periods of standing and light physical tasks.
Think of a question to ask that ties to the job’s perks and growth. You might ask how Ardene Rewards eligibility works in-store, what advancement paths look like for sales associates, or how the team supports wellness and a positive store culture. A targeted question shows you’ve looked at what the role offers beyond the paycheck and demonstrates real interest in contributing to the Courtenay team.
