Dexterra Group is hiring a Second Cook for Attachie Lodge at a Horizon North camp with a 20 on, 10 off rotation and 10 hour shifts, with transport by flight. The Second Cook supports kitchen operations, maintains sanitation per Food Safe, prepares a salad bar and dressings from scratch, visually checks cold food presentation, and assists with prep and meal service. This safety sensitive role requires drug, alcohol and fit to work testing. Ideal candidates have at least five years in a similar environment, FoodSafe Level I, WHMIS certification and rotating schedules. WHAT’S THE JOB?
Based in a world class Horizon North camp facility, the regular shift for this position is 20 days on and 10 days off, with 10-hour workdays. Transportation is provided to site from a pickup point as set out by Horizon North by flight.
The Second Cook is responsible for assisting in the overall kitchen operations and maintenance as well as cleaning and sanitizing of designated kitchen areas, tools, equipment, pots, and dishes.
This position is safety sensitive and requires drug, alcohol, and fit to work testing as a condition of employment.
Your work will include:
Ensure consistent quality standards in food preparation as per client’s requirements and safety and sanitation in kitchen in accordance with Food Safe protocol.
Prepare and set up a full salad bar for lunch and supper.
Prepare a variety of Salads, pasta, lettuce and specialty.
Create and make Salad dressings from scratch, oil, cream based, sauce
Visually inspect appearance of all cold food for proper color combination and overall presentation to maintain appeal
Check and control proper storage of all food items in refrigerators and freezers to maintain product
freshness
Ensure food stocks are utilized effectively
Supporting with all roles in the kitchen from dishwashing, to prep cook and meal execution to ensure on time meal service and accuracy of kitchen cleanliness is to company standard.
