Shaping the Skechers experience on the shop floor

In this role you’ll back the store management to drive sales and keep everyday operations running smoothly, playing a central part in the store’s success. You’ll help customers with product knowledge, run the till, handle stock replenishment and visual merchandising, and contribute to a welcoming, energetic atmosphere. Your day-to-day will blend service with hands-on tasks, all aimed at delivering a positive shopping experience and ensuring the team hits its targets.

What you bring to the Skechers team

Here’s what the role needs from you. The following points are the must-haves that help you fit in quickly and perform well:

  • A track record of delivering outstanding customer service and helping shoppers have a memorable visit
  • Genuine enthusiasm for streetwear and sneaker culture
  • Comfort working in a brisk, high-energy team environment
  • Self-motivation and a drive to meet or exceed sales targets
  • A good listener who uses feedback to improve
  • Previous customer service experience

Pay, benefits and practical details

The role is full-time and onsite in Ormiston, Auckland, with a benefits package tied to the Accent Group portfolio. You’ll receive a 40% discount across Accent Group brands, including Hype DC, Skechers, Platypus, Vans and many more. There’s access to the Employee Benefits program, which includes an Employee Assistance Program, discounted gym memberships and health insurance packages. You’ll work alongside people who are passionate about premium product and sneaker culture, with the chance to progress within the business and receive ongoing training and support.

Tips to help you stand out

Lead your resume with what you’ve done in customer-facing roles and show your sneaker or streetwear interest up front, so recruiters can see the fit quickly.

When you talk about your experience, include a concrete example of a time you met or exceeded a sales target or helped a team succeed in a busy store. A short story about that moment will land well given the role’s targets-driven nature.

Be ready to discuss how you handle feedback and adapt in a fast-paced environment. Explain a specific situation where you used feedback to improve a service or process on the shop floor.

Finally, think of a smart question to ask at interview about training and progression. For example: what does the first 90 days look like in terms of onboarding and what pathways exist for advancement within Skechers retail at Ormiston?
