In this role, you'll:
Be working as a Senior Environment Officer (Biodiversity) that will deliver expert advice and assistance to our stakeholders and contractors on a range of environmental management, compliance, planning and assessment requirements for TfNSW activities with a focus on biodiversity to achieve required Government environmental outcomes and meet the expectations of the community of NSW.
You will support statewide projects across roads, rail and maritime to achieve biodiversity outcomes by reviewing complex technical documentation and translating legal requirements.
You will provide advice and assist in the implementation of practical strategies, guidelines, policies and procedures to support management and resolution of biodiversity matters.

About you
You're looking to contribute to the transformation of the transport sector towards a greener and more sustainable future. You want to actively participate in shaping policies and initiatives that meaningfully contribute to the conservation of biodiversity in NSW.
You will have at least 3-5 years’ industry experience and will be tertiary qualified in Science, Environment Management or similarly related fields. Accreditation under the NSW Biodiversity Offset Scheme would be highly valued.
You are familiar with current biodiversity assessment methodologies, survey guidelines and have extensive experience in biodiversity assessment and management.
You are someone who is known for strong communication skills and stakeholder management.
You’ll enjoy working within a collaborative close-knit team that is environmentally motivated to achieve biodiversity outcomes within a framework of ‘best practice’.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to policies and guidelines whilst developing government experience.
Various locations will be considered in NSW such as either Wagga, Wollongong, Macquarie Park, Parkes, Grafton or Newcastle.
This team currently enjoys a hybrid way of working with 50% of working from home and the office.
