Position Overview:

As part of the talented Navico Group Operations Engineering team, you will be responsible to coordinate and/or execute complex Engineering Projects based on in-depth knowledge within their area of engineering specialization. Provides direction, supervision, and technical support to the Test Engineering group. Defines work priorities and coordinates with various departments at the Ensenada plant to implement testing solutions across different assembly processes. Leads projects, manages resources and Test Engineering personnel, and makes decisions using independent judgment.

Essential Functions:

Test Engineering & Equipment Management

  • Develop, document, and maintain operating procedures, repair logs, and technical documentation for test equipment and fixtures. (Critical)
  • Provide technical guidance and support for the repair and maintenance of test equipment and fixtures. (Critical)
  • Design, specify, and support the development of fixtures and production test equipment for manual and automated processes. (Critical)
  • Generate and manage engineering documentation, including CRs, DRDs, test specifications, DFTs, and work orders.
  • Specify and source electronic and mechanical components for test equipment.
  • Maintain and update schematics and drawings using sound engineering judgment.

Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement

  • Partner with Process Engineering to ensure optimal production performance and product quality.
  • Review and validate equipment, fixtures, and test methods to ensure effectiveness and reliability.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement focused on quality, efficiency, and cost reduction.
  • Identify and lead initiatives to improve yield, reduce test cycle time, and lower overall costs.
  • Evaluate and implement new testing technologies.

Product Development & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Design Engineering on hardware and software development to optimize assembly and testing processes.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) efforts, ensuring readiness of test systems and adherence to timelines.
  • Define and develop manufacturing test plans and perform Design for Test (DFT) analysis.
  • Provide technical support to Test Engineering team members on assigned projects.

Operational Execution & Problem Solving

  • Spend time on the production floor to monitor and support test equipment and fixture performance.
  • Independently troubleshoot and resolve complex engineering issues using methodologies such as 8D, PDCA, Six Sigma, and 5 Whys.
  • Document root cause analysis, corrective actions, and outcomes.
  • Provide timely and accurate progress updates to leadership.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead technical resources, prioritizing daily activities and ensuring timely execution.
  • Develop Test Engineers and/or Technicians, fostering engagement and accountability.
  • Lead cost reduction and First Pass Yield (FPY) improvement initiatives.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

  • Comply with all company safety, health, and environmental standards; proactively identify and address unsafe conditions.
  • Follow all applicable Quality Management System (QMS) requirements related to assigned work.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in Test Engineering roles within a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with electronic device assembly processes.
  • Strong knowledge of RF/microwave signals and electronics, including RADAR applications.
  • Advanced proficiency in LabVIEW and TestStand.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in relevant analytical tools and methodologies.
  • Proven experience in project management, with the ability to deliver results across cross-functional teams.
  • High level of English proficiency (written and verbal).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience applying leadership frameworks and team management tools.
  • Familiarity with administrative and financial tools to support budgeting and operational decision-making.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods (e.g., at a desk or workstation).
  • Constantly operates a computer and other standard office equipment.
  • Must be able to regularly move about the facility to access manufacturing areas.
  • Must be able to operate standard office and manufacturing equipment
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with team members and vendors.
  • This role operates in both office, manufacturing, and warehouse environments, with occasional exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels.
  • Working hours will vary to support global organization 

The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location.  In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
