Cover Genius is hiring a Staff Product Manager in Sydney, Australia, with a hybrid work setup. The company describes itself as the global infrastructure for embedded protection, powering the experiences of customers across leading digital platforms. They operate in more than 60 countries and all 50 US States, having protected more than 73 million customers across 240 million policies and generating USD $3.2BN in gross written sales. Following a strong year with 40% revenue growth and a recent $100M capital raise that lifted the company’s valuation to about $1.9BN, Cover Genius is pushing ahead with its AI-first roadmap. Partners include Klarna, Revolut, Stripe, Priceline, Agoda, Booking.com, Turkish Airlines, Tongcheng Travel, eBay and Uber.

The role is a senior individual contributor position that works across the globe with Product, Design, Engineering, external partners and senior leaders, including Executives. Clear communication, the ability to bring people along, and comfort making calls when there isn’t a clear answer are essential. Your impact isn’t measured only by the features shipped, but by how you raise the bar for how the organization works, setting standards, unblocking teams and resolving cross‑team conflicts.

This opportunity suits a senior product leader who thrives on cross-functional collaboration and wants to shape an AI-enabled platform in a fast-growing embedded protection market.

Steering a global product engine

Day to day, you’ll own the product vision, strategy and roadmap across several connected areas, translating company goals into aligned OKRs for multiple teams. You’ll stay ahead of market shifts and threats in the insurtech and embedded distribution space, spotting cross‑team risks early and unblocking delivery by clarifying ownership and dependencies. You’ll establish standardized approaches for discovery, experimentation, prioritization and measurement that other teams adopt, influencing how the Product organization works beyond your own domain. You’ll turn multi‑source data into clear insights, using hypothesis‑driven development to de‑risk major investments. You’ll make thoughtful trade‑offs across a portfolio, favouring long‑term value over short‑term output. You’ll shape how AI is used in products and workflows, balancing innovation with privacy, ethics and compliance. You’ll partner with Engineering, Design, Data Science, Marketing and external partners, and align senior stakeholders and Executives through clear, data‑informed narratives. You’ll coach and mentor other Product Managers on discovery, PRDs, presentation clarity and stakeholder alignment, and you’ll set the standard for product documentation.

What you’ll bring

  • More than ten years in Product Management, with a focus on technically oriented products and ownership of strategy and roadmaps for customer-facing digital offerings
  • A track record of building and scaling platform-level solutions in a fast-moving tech environment, with measurable results at scale
  • Deep expertise in discovery, experimentation and evidence‑based decision making, including frameworks that other teams have adopted
  • Hands-on experience shipping with generative AI, applied to product work with a thoughtful approach to ethics, privacy and compliance
  • Experience with complex enterprise systems and data integration, particularly in B2B SaaS; insurtech, fintech, travel or e‑commerce exposure is highly advantageous
  • Experience coaching and mentoring other Product Managers
  • Background in high-growth SaaS startups or similar global tech companies
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent technical field

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to influence senior leaders and Executives, and to articulate complex ideas clearly in both spoken and written form
  • Strategic thinker who connects products, markets and customer needs across the business
  • High autonomy and ownership, with a relentless drive to deliver value
  • Results‑driven mindset with a focus on measurable business impact
  • Proactive stance on spotting risks and opportunities early and taking action
  • Ability to balance customer empathy with commercial outcomes
  • Calm under pressure and comfortable operating in ambiguity, with a constructive attitude toward change

Practical details

The role is hybrid and based in Sydney, AU. The work pattern blends time at home and in the office, with remote work on Wednesdays and Thursdays and in the office on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays, with flexibility around start and finish times.

Advice for applicants

Tailor your resume to foreground leadership of platform-scale products, cross‑functional impact and any AI work you’ve delivered, especially where you moved ideas into tangible product outcomes.

In your examples, call out discovery and experimentation approaches you introduced that others adopted, plus a concrete case where hypothesis‑driven development helped de‑risk a major investment, including the results you achieved.

Be ready to discuss a project where you balanced long‑term value with near‑term delivery and how you handled privacy and compliance for AI features, along with how you navigated cross‑team alignment and executive communication.

Ask about the AI roadmap and governance, how AI features are prioritized, audited and measured across teams, and how the Staff Product Manager collaborates with Executives to drive cross‑functional alignment.
