Fergus, CA
$70,000 - $80,000 CAD yearly

Nexans, a global player in electrification, is adding a hands-on Supply Chain Associate to its Fergus site. The role is full-time and onsite, reporting to the Senior Manager, IBP & International Sourcing, within a newly formed IBP & Internal Sourcing function in Supply Chain. This is a practical role for someone who likes keeping the gears turning and coordinating across teams to meet customer commitments.

With a long history in Canada, Nexans has supported the country’s growth since 1911, delivering cable solutions for energy transmission, infrastructure, and transportation. The company operates manufacturing facilities in Quebec, Ontario and Saskatchewan and employs about 28,000 people across 42 countries. Diversity and collaboration are valued as part of its global culture.

The position acts as a critical bridge between Supply Chain and the Commercial team, providing timely, accurate updates on customer orders and potential delays so the commercial side can keep customers informed. The role is hands-on and execution-focused, requiring strong follow-through, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate activities across Planning, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Logistics, Commercial, suppliers, carriers, and other internal teams.

Tracking orders from entry to delivery

Day-to-day, you’ll watch orders from initial entry through production, shipment, and final delivery, making sure dates and data stay correct and current. You’ll work with Planning, Manufacturing and Logistics to spot delays or shortages and push for swift resolutions, while the Commercial team gets timely status updates and risks to commitments are escalated as needed. You’ll keep SAP records accurate and look for ways to improve visibility and overall customer service.

Intercompany activity is a core part of the role: you’ll process and monitor orders, stock transfers, and deliveries between plants and legal entities in SAP, coordinating with supplying and receiving sites to ensure everything moves on time. You’ll stay on top of open transactions, investigate routine discrepancies, and coordinate corrective actions as needed, all while maintaining solid documentation and flagging significant issues when they arise.

Transportation coordination sits next on the list: you’ll arrange inbound transport from suppliers and between plants, work with approved carriers to meet pickup and delivery requirements, and track shipments to address delays. When production or commitments are at risk, you’ll communicate the risks and help expedite shipments as required, coordinating with internal teams and external partners to keep things on track.

Supporting SAP and transactional activity is another key focus: you’ll perform routine supply chain transactions accurately, verify that data around orders, deliveries and shipments is complete, and coordinate corrections in line with established processes. You’ll also support month-end activities by ensuring outstanding items are cleared or properly identified. Finally, you’ll maintain routine reports and trackers on orders, intercompany activity, shipments and transportation exceptions, highlighting past-due orders and upcoming commitments and sharing updates with Supply Chain and Commercial stakeholders.

The job seeks a candidate who brings both education and practical, hands-on exposure to supply chain work. Below is what Nexans values in a candidate and what will help you hit the ground running.

Tips to help you stand out for this role

Open your resume with the parts of your background that line up with this role: your degree in a related field and any hands-on supply chain experience, especially in order management, logistics, or manufacturing, plus your familiarity with SAP or other ERP systems if you have it.

Show how you prove the must-have skills: describe a concrete instance where you managed multiple orders and coordinated with planning, manufacturing and logistics to resolve a delay or shortage, and detail the data or SAP entry you used to keep information accurate and visible.

Prepare for the interview by walking through how you’ve supported end-to-end order-to-delivery, including how you’ve tracked shipments, resolved discrepancies, and communicated with cross-functional teams to protect commitments to customers.

End with a smart question you’ve thought through:ask how the new IBP & Internal Sourcing function interfaces with Commercial and Planning teams, and what KPIs they watch to gauge order visibility and on-time delivery performance.
