Kāhui Tū Kaha is hiring Support Workers across South Auckland, West Auckland and Central Auckland to deliver Housing First based support to homeless and vulnerable tenants, helping them access safe housing and the skills, confidence and connections needed for lasting wellbeing. You should be energetic, positive, and able to build trusting relationships with tāngata and whānau, with experience in social services or mental health and knowledge of tikanga Māori. You will work rotating AM, PM and night shifts. Requirements: NZ residency, a full clean driver's licence, and a clean police record. He kōrero mōu | About You 

Someone who is energetic, positive, confident, has respect for others, with an empathetic manner and is keen to make a difference in the lives of our clients/tenants. Ideally, you will have had experience supporting homeless people and a good understanding of culturally appropriate delivery of social services, including kaupapa Māori services.

He kōrero mō te tūranga | The Role

This rewarding role will allow you to apply the Housing First approach, supporting vulnerable people to access safe, affordable accommodation, and empower them with skills, confidence, and connections needed to sustain their housing and achieve their long-term goals.

Opportunities available:

South Auckland

  • Support rangatahi experiencing homelessness (Rotating AM and PM shifts, Monday to Sunday).

West Auckland

  • Support women transitioning from family violence (Rotating AM and PM shifts, Monday to Sunday).

Central Auckland

  • Work within a single site supported accommodation providing 24/7 support (Rotating AM/PM/Night shifts, Monday to Sunday).

What you will need to have

  • Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with tāngata and their whānau.
  • Relevant qualification (or working towards one) in Social Services and/or Mental Health and Addictions Support.
  • Ability to support and motivate people to achieve their goals.
  • Possess a compassionate and non-judgmental attitude. 
  • Practical life skills and knowledge to connect people with community support resources and whānau/family/family of choice.
  • Ideally, you will have some proficiency in Te Reo Māori and knowledge of tikanga Māori.

All applicants must have New Zealand Residency, a full and clean driver's licence, and a clean police record.
