Zurich Instruments is hiring a Team Leader for Software Data Transfer to lead the Data Transfer team and drive backend and server architecture decisions that enable low latency data transfer in our quantum computing control stack. You will build engineering capability, manage technical debt, and align with product management and cross-functional teams to design and implement new functionalities within an open, collaborative culture. Key requirements include a BSc/MSc/PhD in a technical field, at least 3 years of leadership experience, strong C++ with CUDA, and Python or Rust as a plus, plus familiarity with Cap’n Proto, RoCE and NVLink, networking, firmware interfaces, lab equipment, data transfer protocols and RPCs. Your responsibilities

    • Lead the software team Data Transfer consisting of highly skilled development engineers.

    • Drive all aspects of people development in close collaboration with the HR team. 

    • Engage in architecture decisions for backend- and server-SW. 

    • Build engineering capability, manage technical debt and optimize delivery processes.

    • Design and implement new functionalities.

    • Align with stakeholders, including product management, cross-functional agile development teams, or our Engineering Productivity Team.

Your profile

    • BSc, MSc, or PhD in Computational Science, Physics, Software- or Electrical Engineering, or in an equivalent field.

    • At least 3 years of experience as a team leader, with outstanding organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

    • Broad experience with C++; experience with CUDA, Python and Rust is a plus.

    • Familiar with networking, interfaces to firmware, specialized hardware, and laboratory test equipment.

    • Experience with data transfer protocols and remote procedure calls.

    • Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
