HCL Technologies Limited is hiring for a Technical Specialist to join an onsite, full-time team in Australia. They’re looking for experienced software engineers with 8+ years under their belt to design, build, and deliver scalable, secure cloud-native applications. The role spans AI-enabled application development, AWS cloud engineering, DevOps or platform engineering, and full-stack work using Next.js.

The aim is to combine solid software engineering fundamentals with modern cloud, automation, and AI-assisted development practices. The team expects you to contribute to architecture, coding standards, performance, security, and the reliability of production systems, while staying hands-on across multiple domains.

Shaping cloud-native solutions in the Australian office

In this role you’ll design and develop scalable, secure enterprise applications, concentrating on cloud-native patterns on AWS. You’ll also craft modern web experiences with Next.js, React, TypeScript, and Node.js, ensuring a tight link between frontend and backend services. Deployment pipelines, containerization, infrastructure as code, and deployment automation will be in your daily toolkit, with opportunities to bring AI/GenAI capabilities into enterprise apps where it makes sense. You’ll contribute to architecture discussions, participate in design and code reviews, and help troubleshoot issues that span applications, cloud infrastructure, and production environments. Mentoring fellow engineers and promoting engineering best practices will be part of your impact as well.

What will help you succeed in this role

  • 8+ years in software engineering with solid fundamentals, established design patterns, and clean coding practices.
  • Experience delivering enterprise-scale or cloud-native applications, combined with strong problem-solving, debugging, and clear communication.
  • Background working in Agile or Scrum environments, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Hands-on experience with Next.js, React, TypeScript/JavaScript, and Node.js, including building REST APIs and integrating frontend and backend services.

Compensation and practical details

Guidance for applicants

Start your resume with a clear line that you have 8+ years of software engineering experience and notable work on enterprise cloud projects.

Show how you proved the must-have skills by detailing a project where GenAI features were integrated, mention GenAI/LLM work, Bedrock, OpenAI APIs, LangChain or similar platforms, embeddings and vector search, and any AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot.

Be ready to discuss architecture, design reviews, code reviews, and how you approached production troubleshooting. Have crisp examples of decisions you made, trade-offs you considered, and how you promoted engineering best practices across teams.

Think of a thoughtful question to ask at the interview stage about their current cloud architecture or AI strategy, perhaps how GenAI is planned to be integrated into enterprise apps, or how security and observability are woven into their DevSecOps practices.
