Trade Lane Development Manager
AramexAramex is looking for a Trade Lane Development Manager to drive growth within defined trade lanes by building and nurturing relationships with carriers, partners, and customers. The role centers on spotting new business opportunities, optimizing lane performance, and working with internal teams to improve service offerings, cost efficiency, and profitability in the freight department. The position is full-time and onsite in AE, and it’s a good fit for someone who enjoys strategic development, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration.
In this role you’ll work at the intersection of strategy and execution, turning market insights into actionable plans that lift lane performance and revenue. It’s a hands-on position that requires coordinating with multiple partners and internal teams to ensure that service levels meet customer expectations while keeping an eye on profitability and competitive advantage.
Shaping trade lanes on a daily basis
Day to day, you’ll develop and implement plans aimed at growing revenue and enhancing the effectiveness of your assigned lanes, using market trends, customer needs, and competitive activity to guide decisions. You’ll stay close to the data, evaluating pricing, capacity, and operational efficiency to spot opportunities for improvement and expansion.
You’ll be the go-to person for lane-related questions and concerns, building and maintaining strong relationships with carriers, agents, and customers to ensure reliable service. Negotiating rates and services will be a key part of the job, with the aim of improving both profitability and service levels while safeguarding quality and consistency.
Collaboration is central: you’ll work with sales to promote lane services, with marketing to shape promotional strategies, and with finance and operations to keep cost and revenue tracking accurate. You’ll monitor performance metrics such as volume, revenue, and profitability, and you’ll deliver regular reports and insights to management that highlight achievements, challenges, and recommended improvements. Alignment with all stakeholders is essential to keep trade lane goals clear and to drive a cohesive approach to lane management.
Essentials you need to bring
To be considered, the following items reflect the must-haves from the posting, reworded for clarity:
- A bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, supply chain management, or a closely related field
- Eight years or more of hands-on experience in trade lane management, freight forwarding, or logistics, with a proven record in growing business and managing relationships
- A solid grasp of global trade and logistics, especially within the lanes you would oversee
- Experience using CRM systems and common office software
- A strategic mindset with a proactive habit for spotting opportunities to expand business
Pay, benefits and practical details
The posting identifies the role as full-time and onsite in AE. It does not disclose compensation, benefits, travel requirements, work authorization specifics, licenses, or any physical demands. If those details matter, you’ll likely discuss them during the interview process.
Getting your lane game ready
Show in your resume how you’ve built and executed strategic plans for specific trade lanes and what the resulting growth looked like. Tie your track record to measurable outcomes like revenue growth, cost improvements, or service enhancements.
Provide concrete examples of how you analyzed market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity to identify opportunities, and illustrate how you translated those insights into concrete lane changes or expansions. Quantify any gains where possible to give hiring managers a clear picture of impact.
Prepare to discuss collaboration with cross-functional teams. Have scenarios ready that demonstrate how you worked with sales, marketing, operations, and finance to promote lane services and streamline processes, and what the outcomes were for customers and the business.
Think of a pointed, smart question to ask at interview time. For example, you could ask how the team prioritizes lane expansion opportunities, which metrics management uses to gauge success on a lane, or how lane performance is reviewed and acted upon across departments.
