Anthropologie, the company behind Urban Outfitters, is hiring a part-time Sales Associate to join its Cheltenham store. The role is onsite at Unit J The Brewery Quarter High St, Cheltenham, , GL503FF United Kingdom, and shifts are five hours long. This position suits someone who enjoys helping customers, working with a team, and keeping a store looking fresh and on-trend. The role centers on supporting the store management team to create an environment that sparks creativity and employee development, while living up to the VIBE philosophy and the Peers Training Peers approach. If you’re drawn to a collaborative retail setting and want to help shape the in-store experience, this could be a good match. You’d likely enjoy this if you value friendly conversations with shoppers, teamwork, and contributing to a store that feels welcoming and well organized. It’s a chance to be part of a brand-aware team on the Cheltenham floor, with a focus on maintaining high standards and a positive atmosphere.

Shaping the Cheltenham store vibe

On the shop floor you’ll aim to deliver a positive, friendly customer experience by engaging with shoppers and offering helpful service. During peak times, the focus shifts toward customers rather than tasks to help reinforce the store’s VIBE and reflect the company’s mystery shop standards.

In this role you’ll contribute to the overall vibe by staying positive, respectful and helpful to colleagues, and you’ll model company standards for peers. You’ll also participate in daily department meetings and support the training and development of peers in your team.

Operational duties will see you becoming proficient with tills, shipment tasks, and fitting room guidelines. You’ll assist in processing new shipments and help keep receiving and back stock areas clean and organized, while supporting the timely completion of weekly tasks such as markdowns, re-tickets, transfers and RTVs. You’ll be mindful of loss prevention guidelines and always follow health and safety regulations.

On merchandising and display, you’ll uphold store standards for merchandising and cleanliness, ensure merchandise is ticketed and the floor stays well stocked, and help with merchandising and display projects while staying aware of current products and trends.

What you’ll need to join the team

  • A clear understanding of Urban Outfitters' brand and how it appeals to the local Cheltenham market
  • Strong communication skills

Nice-to-haves

Having some retail experience can be helpful, but it isn’t required for this role.

The job is part-time with five-hour shifts and is onsite in Cheltenham. Life Leave gives you one paid day off per year for big life events, in addition to your annual leave. The wellbeing package includes an Employee Assistance programme for mental, physical and financial health, a discount on external gym memberships, and private medical insurance for eligible employees.

There are generous employee discounts of up to 40% across URBN brands, along with travel perks like a season ticket loan for eligible staff and a cycle to work scheme for eligible employees. The company also offers structured development and ongoing learning to support your growth in the business.

Advice for applicants

Lead your resume with a line about your ability to deliver a friendly, customer-first experience and how you’d contribute to the VIBE and Peers Training Peers approach in practice.

When you can, include a concrete example showing your communication skills in action and any experience you have training or mentoring peers, as this role values teamwork and peer development.

In interview conversations, be ready to discuss how you’d maintain mystery shop standards and stay current on product knowledge and trends, plus how you’d help the team during busy periods while keeping the floor in great shape.

Think of a thoughtful question to ask about real-world application of the VIBE philosophy in the Cheltenham store, how structured development works in practice, and what the team does to balance customer focus with merchandising projects during peak hours.
